Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson: "To finally win the Champions League [in 2019], after missing out the year before was an emotional time. That's definitely number one in my career. It's why I have the motivation for Saturday.

"You never know when your last chance is, so that's why the next opportunity is the biggest one. This is everything for us. We never know what'll happen in future, so we have to cherish every moment.

"We've worked for a long time for these opportunities. We need to be ready.

We have given absolutely everything all season. Saturday is a huge opportunity to finish on a high. It was a tough time after [the 2018 defeat]. We all used the experience to be better and stronger."

  2. 'We're good enough to win'published at 19:24 British Summer Time 28 May 2022

Liverpool v Real Madrid (20:00 BST)

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson told BBC Radio Merseyside: "We are up against the most decorated team in this competition.

"It's going to be really hard to play against them. We have to hope we can play at our maximum and I believe we're good enough to win. But they'll have the same belief. I suppose whoever plays best on the night will probably win the game.

"It's a brand new game [from 2018]. Enough time has passed. We wrote that wrong the following season by finally winning the trophy. New players, everything has moved on. I'm not thinking about 2018."

Sadio Mane says he will give a "special" answer over his Liverpool future after Saturday's Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich have both been linked with Mane, 30, who enters the final year of his contract in June.

However, Liverpool are hopeful of retaining the Senegal forward who has already won the Africa Cup of Nations, Carabao Cup and FA Cup this term.

"I think the answer I can give you now is I feel very good," said Mane.

"I am fully focused on Saturday's game, that is the answer I must give before the final. But come back to me on Saturday and I will give you the best answer you want to hear, for sure. It's special. I will give you all you want to hear then."

He has been linked to Bayern Munich.

If Liverpool were to win tonight it's immortality isn't it? Three trophies in the season. They are an incredible team but they are led by one man Jurgen Klopp. The way he manages that club and squad is incredible.

The consistency Liverpool are showing now and winning trophies is quite incredible.

I feel this will be Liverpool night if they turn up and are ruthless.

That has been the issue for teams that have played Real Madrid, like Paris St-Germain, like Manchester City, they have had big chances but not taken them. If Liverpool take their chances they win this game.

  10. Should Mane win Ballon d'Or?published at 19:15 British Summer Time 28 May 2022

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane should be in the running for the Ballon d'Or, says former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.

Ivorian Toure told BBC World Service: "For the past four to five years he's been unbelievable.

"Without disrespect for Mohamed Salah who was doing brilliantly well as well, Raheem Sterling, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, but I think this Ballon d'Or last year was a shambles.

"How can you tell me this lad is not in the top three of the Ballon d'Or. How is possible?"

Toure thinks Mohamed Salah should stay at Anfield for the rest of his career.

"Just stay where you’ve been loved, you've been respected," Toure said.

"He’s loved in Liverpool, and I think he should stay. For me, he should sign for life, because this club is meant for him, without doubt."

Liverpool suffocate teams by being horrible to play against but they have patience too, which means they don't panic if the goals don't come or things don't go their way.

The fans are the same. I actually noticed the change in their attitude a few years ago, when Liverpool came back from 1-0 down to beat Arsenal 5-1 at Anfield in December 2018.

They expect the team to find an answer, like they did in winning their final four league games of the season after going behind on each occasion.

There is a calmness about this Liverpool side and that's why no-one gave up on the title either, even when City were a long way in front in January.

It didn't quite happen for them on Sunday, but Liverpool can look back without any regrets because they found a way to take care of their own business, and beat Wolves.

They have become very good at doing that. This has already been a season beyond anyone's expectations - but if Liverpool do finish it off by beating Real Madrid then I don't think anyone would be surprised.
