Jon Ruffell: I don’t think any West Ham fan is concerned if we don’t equalise. It’s good to give the experience to the kids & see the upcoming talent. They’ve been impressive so far.

Former West Ham midfielder Kevin Keen, who played more than 200 games in a 10-year spell with the Hammers, is a proud man as he is the club’s Under-18s coach.

He’s just been talking to the fans during the break and said: “It was a bit naughty for them to score a wonder goal after only five minutes against our lads.

“For five players to be making their full senior debuts is absolutely incredible. It’s just amazing and all the coaches from the under-nines all the way along deserve a lot of credit. For the manager to have faith in them is a real credit to everyone working in the Academy.

“The Under-23s are having an amazing season and the back four you see tonight have been playing all year and they’re top of the (Premier League 2) league and we have a real chance of winning it.

“I think they’ve done well and we can come back and win the game. The European journey has been amazing and everyone has been talking about if we could draw Barcelona (in the last 16, Barcelona need to get through one round first).

“The club has a fantastic opportunity to do something with this tournament and we’re long overdue a trophy.”

  20. 'I don't even know what the competition is'published at 20:50 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2021

    Napoli 3-2 Leicester

    Leicester City

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers speaking to BT Sport: "There is a lot of naivety in our team, with a lot of young players and it has been a big demand for them this season.

"We have played a number of systems but individually it comes down to having that mentality to track a runner or stop a cross. We were good offensively but it was nowhere near good enough.

"We should have gone in front and with the first attack in the box they score. We have to do more to block the shot, be more aggressive and you have to throw your body in the way to stop the shot.

"The second goal we jumped at the wrong times and the third goal you have to track the runner and stop the cross. The third goal was a cheap goal to give away. These are the basics of the game we are not doing so well.

"Jonny [Evans] stayed alive for our first goal and Kiernan [Dewsbury-Hall], I'm delighted for him. He has come into the team and done well."

On the Europa Conference League: "I've got to be honest I don't even know what the competition is. I was focused on the Europa League and winning this group and at the very least finishing second. But I am sure we will find out soon enough."
