  12. 'Pressure on big teams in League One'published at 15:17 British Summer Time 14 August 2021

    Joe Thompson
Former Rochdale and Tranmere midfielder on Squad Goals

I’m looking at who hit the ground running last week like Wycombe, they were fantastic.

There is a lot of pressure on these big teams in League One like Sheffield Wednesday.

It’s a fantastic division and I’m really looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.

  13. Welcome back to The Hawthornspublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 14 August 2021

    West Brom 1-0 Luton Town

It's almost a houseful at The Hawthorns today for the first time in 17 months as, excepting the final game of last season when they had a reduced 6,000 crowd, West Bromwich Albion's supporters return en masse.

The Albion fans were already in good voice even before kick-off. And that wretched Luton Town own goal has simply made them even noisier.

The visit of the Hatters, who have not quite sold out their full away allocation, is also a first for new Baggies boss Valerien Ismael - his first home in charge.

But it was also a time for reflection for all the Albion supporters lost during Covid. and a clutch of former players, most notably 1968 FA Cup winner John Talbut, and staff, Nobby Stiles, Norman Hunter and Ron Wylie, and one more recent ex-player in particular, former goalkeeper Alan Miller, who is remembered in the match programme.

Rangers get the breakthrough and it was a ripper from Chris Willock from the edge of the box.

QPR free-kick was rolled low to him on the edge of the box, and he dug it out of his feet, ran laterally across across the white line and arrowed a shot back across Matt Ingram and off the post.

Comes against the run of play but so be it.

  18. goal

GOAL: Huddersfield 0-1 Fulhampublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 14 August 2021

    Aleksandar Mitrovic (9 mins)

What more can I say? The Championship is back...
