It's a wicked goal, I'm not going to lie. The pass from Elliot Embleton into Nathan Broadhead is outstanding. He's probably got a point to prove to Everton, he dinks it over Bernd Leno and it's a great little finish and you're thinking Sunderland are very much back in the game.

    Nathan Broadhead

    Oh hello!

Sunderland play this break to perfection and they're back in it.

Alex Pritchard is in the centre circle and finds Elliot Embleton, who carries the ball and then plays a through ball to Nathan Broadhead at the exact right time.

Broadhead, who has timed his run perfectly, waits for Bernd Leno to come off his line and then just clips the ball above him into an empty net.

Briliant play from Nicolas Pepe. I think his decisions have sped up in the last 15 minutes or so and he gets his reward. This is what I love about Pepe, he drives in, hits it with his left foot and Callum Doyle is unlucky.

Was always the likeliest outcome but dear me, that's a long coach ride to be 2 down in half an hour. Hardy souls those Sunderland fans

    Nicolas Pepe

    Arsenal are in control now.

Nicolas Pepe runs down the right and finds Cedric Soares on the overlap.

Everyone is expecting a Cedric cross but instead he pulls the ball back for Pepe in the box.

The Ivorian shoots and it ends up in the top corner, after a deflection off Callum Doyle.

Another nice Sunderland move including a good dribble from Nathan Broadhead before Lynden Gooch puts in a lovely cross which Rob Holding heads away under pressure from Ross Stewart.

    Arsenal 1-0 Sunderland

Another Folarin Balogun chance. Sunderland try to play the ball out of defence and give it away. Emile Smith Rowe picks out Balogun, but his first-time shot is central and not too powerful and Lee Burge saves.

    Arsenal 1-0 Sunderland

Should pobably be 2-0. Ncolas Pepe finds Cedric Soares on the overlap and Cedric whips in a cross to Folarin Balogun at the back post.

Balogun gets a head onto it but it bounces wide. He should have hit the target there.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21 mins

    Arsenal 1-0 Sunderland

Lynden Gooch hacks down Nicolas Pepe and gets a deserved yellow. He'll miss the first leg of the semi-final... whether Sunderland are there or not.

Good response from Sunderland but Ben White cuts out Ross Stewart's cross.

Eddie Nketiah knees it in and he's not going to miss. But it goes back to giving away that needless free-kick, Sunderland are in the game but find themselves 1-0 down because of a set play.

    Eddie Nketiah

League Cup goal king Eddie Nketiah gives Arsenal the lead.

The corner comes in and Rob Holding's powerful header is well saved down low by Lee Burge. Sadly the rebound comes to Nketiah, who bundles in from close range.

  19. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 14 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Sunderland

Arsenal go so close. A lovely passing move and Nuno Tavares' cross takes a mega deflection off Sunderland's Elliot Embleton, who almost boots it into his own goal. It hits the crossbar and Eddie Nketiah's follow-up is blocked.

From the corner, Rob Holding miskicks a volley.

    Arsenal 0-0 Sunderland

Sunderland are not coming here and dropping off, they're getting right in front of Arsenal and being aggressive and not making it easy for them.
