You can see the fluidity of the Arsenal team. The recruitment was really good. It's taken Mikel Arteta time to get this structure across. But a manager is only as good as his players.

The young players have been brilliant. The kids were phenomenal in the Europa League. They're first-team regulars now and deservedly so.

I'm enjoying watchng Arsenal now. It's fun.

This is a fantastic game for Sunderland, the last thing [any player would] want to do is miss it through Covid.

A special mention for the 5,000 Sunderland fans. I was fortunate enough to play in front of them. They're some of the best fans. This time of year with everything going on, to go down and support their team is fantastic.

Sunderland boss Lee Johnson said it was just "dad banter" when he said he wanted to face the Gunners in the last four.

After beating QPR on penalties, he said: "I'd love to have Arsenal away, or Tottenham away if not that [in the quarters]. And then we'll wait for the really big guns when it's two legs."

Asked about it this week, he said: "I regret if it offended anybody because genuinely, anybody that knows me and probably watched the clip will know that it was tongue-in-cheek dad banter.

"I can assure you I've got 100% full respect because the first part of the question was a genuine answer in terms of they are the two clubs that I actually wanted to play because I haven't played there and I haven't managed there."
