  1. Thank you and goodnightpublished at 20:07 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

Well, with all due respect to the teams involved, I suspect we won't be writing any epic poetry in remembrance of today's games in the Premier League.

They were... fine. Chelsea went top, Leeds got their first win, Norwich their first point and Hwang Hee-Chan had a good afternoon for Wolves.

Bring on tomorrow. Until then, enjoy all the content on the site. Night all.

  2. 'Today was as close to perfect as we can get'published at 20:07 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    FT: Brighton 0-0 Arsenal

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter speaking to Sky Sports: "It is what it is with the result, but the performance was fantastic from us.

"I loved our courage, our quality. It was a wonderful performance and I am really proud of the players."

On the chances missed: "As a coach you know that the hard bit is putting the ball in the net but we tried everything.

"The intensity was great, playing out from the back and going into a high press. Going man for man with their high quality players, it was a fantastic performance."

On the performance of Marc Cucurella: Marc [Cucurella] has been brilliant on and off the pitch. Great lad everyone loves him. The way he plays the game is so refreshing, gives energy to the team.

"But I thought the whole team performance was amazing. The back three defended big spaces against some really good attacking players. I don't want to single anyone out."

On the start to the season: "It is a good start from a points perspective. Two points a game in PL is very well done from the guys.

"We have had to dig deep at times because we have had problems, injuries but we have dealt with it well. Performances have been go0d but not perfect.

"But today was as close to perfect as we can get and we have to keep going from that.

  3. 'We have to take a draw with the performance today'published at 20:00 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    FT: Brighton 0-0 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to BBC MOTD: "In the first half we struggled to dominate the game. They proposed a really aggressive game, we struggled to break the press and that caused us problems because there was a lot of transitions and one-on-one situations that we could not deal with.

"We improved a little bit in the second half and had a couple open situations that could have been big chances.

"We managed to get a point today because we defended the last 15-20 metres of the pitch really well. I think for the rest there is a lot of things we have to get better at."

On Arsenal's performance: "I was more concerned about the way we played. We didn't make enough right decision, every time there was a duel where we could escape pressure and attack open spaces we came up short and against this structure we had to do better."

On the lack of chances created: [Aubameyang's header] was probably the only open situation in the first half, and we were unlucky not to score it. I don't think we deserved to win the game, we have to take the draw with the performance we had today and improve."

On the recent run of form: "We have conceded one goal in the last five games which is really positive. It is a really positive block of games that has helped us change the situation.

"We can now focus on the things we are doing well and work on the ones we need to improve."

  4. 'The performance needs to be better'published at 19:49 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    FT: Brighton 0-0 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, speaking to Sky Sports: "Personally and collectively the performance needs to be better especially with where we want to get to. It’s another point and been a good month so we keep looking up now.

"It was a difficult game, they made it hard and we have to give credit to them. We have got to get around that, we have to show more composure and intensity on the ball and make it harder for them. We have to do it on the training pitch, we tweaked a few things, it was a difficult game but a point it is a point. It is three clean sheets out of four games, it’s not all doom and gloom.

"We have had a tough start, and no one is hiding from that. We have turned the corner with four good results, you can see a structure of a team and one that is gelling on the pitch."

  5. 'A draw is a fair result'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    FT: Brighton 0-0 Arsenal

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton defender Dan Burn, speaking to Sky Sports: "We got into good positions and on another day could have scored, but a draw is a fair result. It was another good performance so we take a two week break and kick on.

"The way we played out we got into good positions and on another day could have scored.

"It's Arsenal, they have quality in the forward positions and were a threat but I thought we were brilliant.

"As a club we have said we want to be a top 10 club at some point. Everything we did in the build up was good and I thought we controlled it."

On Marc Cucurella: "He brings that quality and also got stuck in, I hope he keeps kicking on. He’s been around that Spain squad, the technical things he is good at but it’s the physical side and I think he’s been really good."

  6. Blunt Gunnerspublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    FT: Brighton 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal have scored just five goals in their opening seven league games, their fewest at this stage of a season since 1986-87 (also five goals), in what was George Graham’s first campaign in charge of the Gunners.

This was Arsenal’s fifth 0-0 draw in 65 games under Mikel Arteta in the Premier League – they didn’t have any goalless draws in the competition under his predecessor Unai Emery (51 games).

Ash Williams: Arsenal were pretty poor today. Credit to Brighton for pushing them but they should be disappointed with a draw. Arsenal on the other hand should see this as a point gained.

MASIMBA MUKURAZITA: Not a very good game from @Arsenal particularly coming from that very good display last week. Weather conditions were not good though.
