The weird thing about the Wednesday night-Saturday lunchtime turnaround that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was complaining about yesterday is that it is supposed to stop next season, when the new TV contract begins.

From next season, the BT game will switch to Saturday evening to avoid the sharp turnaround.

I did ask the Premier League earlier this season why it was still happening this year, but I didn't get a clear answer - and it was not absolutely certain either whether it only applied to teams who are away from home in Europe.

Rafa Benitez knows all about Cristiano Ronaldo having managed him at Real Madrid, so is the Everton boss surprised CR7 is still making an impact at the age of 36?

"Not really, when I was coaching at Real he was one of the best professionals, always training well and taking care of his body and an example as a professional.

"He is one of the best I've managed, a great professional. It will be good to see him - but away from our goal."

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is never short of a positive word or two aboout Cristiano Ronaldo.

And he has used his notes in today's match programme to heap more praise on the Portuguese superstar.

"The impact he's has had since coming back to the club - impact on the players, the staff, the fans, everyone - has been sensational, and with that kind of feeling around the place, you get moments like Wednesday night's last-minute winner."

I hardly need to remind you Ronaldo scored the winner deep into injury-time that gave United a priceless Champions League victory against Villarreal on Wednesday.

It does seem a bit daft that Man Utd and Chelsea are both playing today having had European games on Wednesday, and Liverpool and Manchester City - who were in Europe on Tuesday - are not playing until 4.30pm tomorrow.

Back in the day, Fergie would have brandished his hairdryer about that.

Cristiano Ronaldo's stoppage-time winner at Old Trafford on Wednesday resuscitated Manchester United's Champions League campaign - and they will be hoping it can be the catalyst as they enter a potentially pivotal month in the Premier League.

As well as games home and away against Atalanta this month, the Reds face trips to Leicester and Tottenham, and home games with arch rivals Liverpool and first Everton.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said there was "no common sense at all" in the fact they have a lunchtime kick-off against Everton after playing in the Champions League on Wednesday night, for the second successive season.

Last year he said they were "set up to fail" but ran out 3-1 winners at Goodison Park, and will be hoping they can do the same again.

Having come off the pitch some 61 hours ago after a dramatic win over Villarreal in the Champions League, Manchester United are first up this weekend.

Everton, meanwhile, have had a full week to prepare for this.

It's fair to say Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not happy about the kick-off time.
