  1. 'Watford are vulnerable'published at 14:52 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    Leeds v Watford (15:00 BST)

    Adam Pope
    BBC West Yorkshire Sport

Neither Leeds nor Watford have kept a clean sheet in the Premier League this season, so I am expecting goals when the two sides meet at Elland Road, where the Whites have never managed a shutout in 12 attempts against the Hornets.

Looking at the average age of the respective starting line-ups for last weekend's fixtures, United have youth on their side (25 years old compared with Watford's 30). It could indicate the intensity of Marcelo Bielsa's style having an advantage as the game enters the final stages against opponent Xisco Munoz, who is new to the division.

Leeds have had more scoring attempts against them than any other side, with goalkeeper Illan Meslier in great form and making 32 saves so far.

But Watford are vulnerable. They have conceded five goals from set-pieces, which they are liable to give away as the team to have committed the most fouls.

  2. 'A match with added significance'published at 14:52 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    Leeds v Watford (15:00 BST)

    Geoff Doyle
    BBC Three Counties Radio sport

International breaks can be great for Premier League managers - a time for their team and themselves to rest, regroup, recover and refocus. It can also be a worry.

For owners concerned with matters on the pitch, it is a handy time to make management changes. So the matches before international breaks have added significance.

You would think Watford head coach Xisco Munoz shouldn't be too concerned. Seven points from six games is just ahead of the imaginary safety line and there are plenty of teams below them. Ten points from seven would be well ahead of the curve. But seven points from seven would be borderline.

The Hornets' recent history suggests that unless they win four on the spin - extremely rare in the Premier League - this 'pressure' is never going to go away for any coach at WD18.

  3. Sharp shooter Sarrpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

Ismaila Sarr is in fine form, scoring three goals in two Premier League games, and his efficiency in front of goal has impressed so far this season.

The Watford winger has the fifth-highest shot conversion percentage in the league (of those who have taken 10 or more shots), scoring one goal for every four shots he attempts.

His shooting accuracy is even more impressive, with 69% of his shots being on target - the highest in the league among those who have attempted 10 or more.

The 23-year-old Senegal forward is clearly Watford’s talisman and principal goalscoring threat. The Hornets’ season may rely on Sarr keeping these shooting metrics as high as he can.

  4. 'Wolves playing with confidence'published at 14:49 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    Wolves v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Wolves have won two out of their past three games and they are playing like a team whose confidence has come back.

Do Newcastle go to Molineux and set themselves up to be hard to beat, or do they think this is a chance to get a first win of the season and go for it a little bit more than that?

I suspect it will be the former, but I don't think it will work.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-1

  5. Townsend celebration a 'mark of respect'published at 14:48 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    FT: Man Utd 1-1 Everon

    Everton

Everton goalscorer Andros Townsend speaking to Match of the Day on his celebration imitating Cristiano Ronaldo: "Not imitating, it's just a mark of respect to a guy who influenced my career. I spent many hours on the training pitch and in the video room trying to analyse his free-kicks and his stepovers and the way he dedicated himself to football. So it wasn't an imitation it was a mark of respect to one of my idols. I probably didn't do the celebration justice and didn't execute it properly."

On his five goals in nine games for Everton: "I'm loving my football and I'm so happy to have the opportunity to play for Everton football club and to contribute and score goals. I've said many times in the past I should e scoring goals on a more consistent basis. For one reason or another I've never really done it over the course of the season. It's been a good start but I'm capable of much more.

On the mood in the dressing room: "It's a difficult one because on the one hand we're delighted to come to Old Trafford and get a point with the injuries we had but we;re a little disappointed not to take all three."

  6. 'Magpies need a win'published at 14:47 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    Wolves v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

    Matthew Raisbeck
    BBC Newcastle Sport

Though it may be too early to describe any match as a "must win", the importance of the game against Wolves cannot be understated, with Newcastle and Steve Bruce desperate for a first victory of the season before the two-week break for international football.

Performances are definitely improving, but some supporters may wonder if United can’t beat Watford, Southampton, Leeds and Burnley (in the cup), where will the victories come?

  7. 'Solid and compact'published at 14:47 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    Wolves v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM

Wolves boss Bruno Lage described Newcastle as “solid and compact with good players” at his pre-match news conference, and has noted their change in formation from a back five to a back four.

Lage changed his wider attacking players last weekend, replacing Adama Traore and Francisco Trincao with Hwang Hee-chan and Daniel Podence.

He said his “four wingers have different profiles” and he will “choose the best solutions for each game” - but praised the connection quickly struck up between Hwang and Raul Jimenez.

  8. A match to set a course?published at 14:46 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    Wolves v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM

Had Wolves not won at Southampton last Sunday, Molineux probably would have been a very tense place indeed this weekend, for a visit from one of the Premier League’s early strugglers.

At least, it shouldn’t be that way at three o’clock, but if Wolves continue their bad habit of not turning promising positions and chances into goals – especially at home – things might get edgy.

The hype and hoopla around the Premier League makes it too easy to overstate the significance of any single fixture, but it does feel like this match could set a course for a while.

Win, and Wolves will have a bouncy couple of weeks to get excited about their grapple with Aston Villa that comes next. If they fall short of that, a fortnight is a long time to stew.

  9. First win for Burnley?published at 14:45 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    Burnley v Norwich (15:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

This is 19th versus 20th and neither side have managed a win yet, but Burnley have looked far more like getting one than Norwich have so far.

Too often, the Canaries have been out-thought and out-gunned. They haven't even got a point on the board after six games and there haven't been too many moments when they have looked like getting one either.

Burnley, in contrast, have been much more competitive, even when they have lost.

Sean Dyche is going to have work cut out to keep the Clarets out of trouble but, from what I've seen of both teams, they should take the points here.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-1

  10. 'Farke under mounting pressure'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    Burnley v Norwich (15:00 BST)

    Rob Butler
    BBC Radio Norfolk sport

There’s an old saying among Canary supporters – “Along come Norwich”.

It’s a tongue-in-cheek way of saying that when the Canaries come to town your team will get the win they desperately need. It’s a variation of a view held by most pessimistic football supporters, no doubt, but Burnley really are due a win at Turf Moor. The Clarets haven’t won on home soil in 13 league games.

Norwich boss Daniel Farke is under mounting pressure from supporters following the worst possible start to the season - six defeats from six. It seems the pressure is off from the Carrow Road boardroom, though, as Farke spoke this week about his total backing from sporting director Stuart Webber.

If the Canaries fail to win in Lancashire they will go into the international break adrift at the bottom of the Premier League with confidence levels in the gutter.

  11. Burnley eye win on landmark daypublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    Burnley v Norwich (15:00 BST)

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Turf Moor

    .

It is a landmark day for Sean Dyche today as he takes charge of his 400th game as Burnley boss.

He’ll be in no mood to celebrate just yet, though, with his side looking to pick up their first win of the season in the Premier League.

The Clarets will arguably get no better chance against a Norwich side without a win or even a point so far on their return to the top flight.

Norwich lost just four games on the road as they won the Championship last season but haven’t won away in the Premier League since November 2019 and have not won at Burnley since 2003, when Dyche – in his ninth year as Burnley boss – was still lacing up his boots as a Watford defender.

Grey skies over Elland Road as Leeds go looking for their first Premier League win of the season against Watford. Neither side has kept a clean sheet in the top flight this campaign - a stalemate seems unlikely!

  14. 'Raised eyebrows'published at 14:40 British Summer Time 2 October 2021

    Chelsea v Southampton (15:00 BST)

    Mark Scott
    Match of the Day commentator

    Stamford BridgeImage source, BBC Sport

Brollies up here at a drizzly Stamford Bridge and also a few raised eyebrows at Thomas Tuchel's team selection, the feeling is it's reward for those who did well from the bench against Juventus, as well as Tuchel wanting to shake things up a bit after what he called a “strange display” in Turin.

Great performance from Everton and with some more composure from Davies at the end I don't think anyone would have argued with an away win. Well done blues!

Chelsea got rid of Lampard and it transformed them. Time for Ole to go now and the board to show some backbone.

Everton are well deserving of their point. It was a really strong first half performance. Everton were not troubled too much in the second.

It was fantastically organised performance and they had that threat on the counter attack.

Anthony Gordon was sensational with the shift he put in.

Cally: Benitez giving Ole an absolute managerial masterclass. Alarm bells ringing yet?

Michael Reid: Not a chance can Ole take this United team forward. The sooner he's out the sooner we can progress.

Peter Hutton: Wow. Imagine if Everton had Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Coleman and Gomes fit today? How does this United squad not muster more than single points against such weakened opponents (weakened, not all weak)?

Manchester United and Everton draw at Old Trafford for the third season in a row: 1-1 in 2019-20 and 3-3 in 2020-21. This is the second run of three draws in this exact top-flight fixture, after three in a row between 1985 and 1987.

The Toffees remain unbeaten in their top flight away match against Manchester United in three successive campaigns for the first time since 1988-89 to 1990-91 (W2-D1-L0).

Everton fans will be delighted. After all the furore around Rafa's appointment as boss, it's all worked out fine so far, hasn't it?

I expect there will be more unhappiness among Man Utd fans with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
