  3. 'That was more our level'published at 18:31 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    FT: Leicester 4-2 Man Utd

    Leicester City

Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel on BBC Radio 5 Live: "It was a very entertaining game for the neutral, I guess. For us, it was more like our old selves. The international break came at a really good time for us to reflect on things and today was much closer to what we expect."

On whether that result kickstarts their season: "I hope so; we've had bit-part performances until now, but to maintain the intensity in our press and counter-press was really important and something we've looked at. It was the the culmination of a lot of hard work and a lot of analysing that we've been doing."

On the quality of the goals: "They were great goals, but David de Gea was man of the match today. He was phenomenal and that speaks to the amount of chances we created; but for him it could have been over a lot earlier."

  4. 'We have set the standard today'published at 18:29 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    FT: Leicester 4-2 Man Utd

    Leicester City

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers speaking to Sky Sports: "Our defending. That was much more like us. We were more aggressive and coordinated in our pressing. We did that right from the first minute. We scored four and had a few chances to score more. It was more like our level and hopefully a momentum changer for us.

"Mason [Greenwood] scored an unbelievable strike so you have to show your mentality then. The courage and mentality was outstanding. Some of the goals we scored we absolutely outstanding.

"He [Patson Daka] is a goalscorer, it is going to take that bit of time to adapt but he loves scoring.

"We have been too passive but especially against [Crystal] Palace we were nowhere near the level we’ve been at for two and a half years. We have set the standard today and have to continue with that."

  5. 'I loved watching the team today' - Rodgerspublished at 18:28 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    Leicester 4-2 Man Utd

    Leicester City

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It is much more like it. Today we were outstanding. I spoke to the squad in the week about getting back to what we were good at.

"You have to fight, you have to run. We needed to fix our issues and that started with our defending, aggression and intensity and then you can play fast and dynamic football.

"We are a high-pressing team, sometimes we have to adapt it but that is our blueprint.

"The ambition of the squad is that we all know we have to be together. Patson [Daka] kept the threat, pressure, running in behind and to have Ayoze [Perez] then coming on to keep the pressure and create a goal. It was an outstanding performance.

"I loved watching the team today. I studied our last game against [Crystal] Palace as if I was just coming into the job and I laid it out to the players. We need to keep proving the point. Today we proved we can be a very good side when we play with that hunger."

  6. 'We need to change something' - Pogbapublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    Leicester 4-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba speaking to Sky Sports: "To be honest we have been having these kind of games for a long time and we have not found the problem. We have conceded easy and stupid goals.

"The fans were going to push and put pressure on us and we need to be more mature and arrogant in a good way by playing our football.

"We need to find the key because we deserved to lose. We need to change something. I don’t know if it is the mindset of the players, I don’t know because it is frustrating. If we want to win the title these are the games we need to win even if they are very hard. We need to find the mentality and tactics to win.

"It is everyone from the goalkeeper to the last person on the bench. We have to look as individuals and as a team to fix this."

  7. 'I believe in this team'published at 18:26 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    FT: Leicester 4-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskaer on BBC Radio 5 Live: "It was end to end at times. When you get back to 2-2, you think you might have a chance and we dug in to get that equaliser, but 10 seconds later we conceded and that is disappointing. We conceded too many chances, and David (de Gea) did really well."

On why his team keep conceding: "The first one today was sloppy, we are playing out from the back with sloppy passes and reactions; second one is a set play and we should do better. Third one, we've just equalised and fourth is another set play. All of them are disappointing. If teams outplay you, it is easier to accept. We should be able to address this."

On Cristiano Ronaldo: "He is a top player and he scores goals. Today we haven't created enough for him or the others. He has come in and been very positive."

On pressure: "Every time you lose, the pressure builds of course, but we are used to living with that pressure. We are Man Utd; set backs have happened before, worse performances, and we've got to bounce back on Wednesday. I'm going to do the job as well as I can; I believe in this team."

  8. 'Maybe something has to give' - Solskjaerpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    FT: Leicester 4-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We started well. Mason [Greenwood] scored a fantastic goal. You look at the spaces we create and with a bit more care we’d have got the second one. We more or less gifted them the equaliser. The second one was a set play which is disappointing. We get and equaliser and then concede again 10 seconds later. Concentration was a key factor in this game."

"It is collective. The whole performance was not good enough with and without the ball. Over the international break we have had a good look to see what has gone wrong lately.

"We have had too many games where we have lost points so we need to look at the whole set up and balance of the team and maybe something has to give.

"Every point in the Premier League you have to fight for. You have to tackle, block and win headers and in key moments today we didn’t do that enough. Every game is a test of character here. Especially now it is an examination of character, staff, players and everyone around here we have to stick together for Wednesday night."

  9. 'I hold my hands up if that doesn’t work out'published at 18:23 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    FT: Leicester 4-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking to Sky Sports: "When you look at the game after the four gaols we conceded are all very poor. We didn’t deserve to carry on the [unbeaten away] run The performance was not good enough.

"We got a very good goal with mason and were knocking on the door for another but then some sloppy play and we concede. It was end to end but they created more chances. Two goals from set pieces is disappointing and then seconds after equalising that should not happen [for Jamie Vardy's goal]

"I pick the team and Harry [Maguire] has showed no reaction [to his injury]. I hold my hands up if that doesn’t work out and I probably made a couple of bad decisions.

"You need to have legs, defensive mindset to break their play and then attack yourself. We just could not win enough balls and that has been one of our strengths.

"Lately we have not been in great form and lost too many points. Something may have to change. Do we need more legs in there? What do we need? It is one that we have to really analyse. The one positive was Marcus [Rashford] coming back in. He’s got legs and is sharp so that’s a big bonus.

"I’ve got many good players and every game is a different game. I am not going to put excuses up for the team I put out because it is full of top footballers and that was not good enough."

  14. 'It was a solid performance'published at 18:12 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    FT: Southampton 1-0 Leeds

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl to BBC Radio 5 Live: "To win a game you need a goal and today we scored one; this is helpful. I don't want to say this was the best performance this season but it was a very solid one; we've done a good job defensively and the goal was decisive and important for a deserved win.

On a first win this season: "Our performances have been good but the win was not there. We knew after losing some players in the summer, it would take time to get the right team on the pitch and perform like we did. The season is long and I'm not scared not to take wins, but to take one is the first big step."

    There is David Raya again.

Superb goalkeeping from the Spaniard, makes up his mind early and sprints out to collect a hanging cross into the area.

That makes such a different for the defence, relieving the pressure and getting his side onto the front foot.

  17. 'I know my players better now'published at 18:07 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    FT: Watford 0-5 Liverpool

    Watford

Watford boss Claudio Ranieri speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world and maybe we were a bit nervous. We conceded some good presents today, and saw a lot of bad things today, but also some good things. We played so-so in the last 20 minutes, we were face to face with Liverpool.

"It is difficult to say what level the players are at because I only met them in the last few days. In training, everything was OK, but now I know them much better. I will always be positive; we played badly, but I saw good things. It is a big job, but if the players understand me, the job gets smaller."

  18. 'Mo Salah is the best player in the world'published at 18:07 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    FT: Watford 0-5 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Mo Salah is the best player in the world at the moment. Why not mention it when it is the case? He is in top shape and doing pretty good. It was a top class performance even without the goal. If he wouldn't have scored today, it was still unbelievable. Naby Keita, what a game!

"It was an important win and an important week. Tuesday against Atletico and then Man Utd, two massive games. Three away games, by the way, which is not nice but we have to get through it. We have to play a different game at Atletico."
