Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to BBC Radio 5 Live: "We were better, we only conceded one chance in the first half and a set piece in the second. It is not much and we created a lot of chances. The second half was better and we were much more comfortable."

On John Stones and Raheem Sterling: "I decided to play Raheem six days ago. I am always on their side; I demand the best performance possible, but I am always there for them."

On his squad and return from internationals: "We've been playing really well lately, and we've had an incredibly tough run. We are not top of the league but we are close. It is important to get players back; Gundogan is back, Nathan [Ake] played well, Bernardo [Silva] and Rodri continued a great start to the season. The game after the international break is always a bit difficult because we find our rhythm after a few days."

Norwich City

Norwich boss Daniel Farke to BBC Radio 5Live: "Many boxes were ticked today. One to get off the mark in a home game, a second unbeaten game in a row, another clean sheet and to create more chances than we did at Burnley. I thought we created more than enough to win this game. It was definitely a step in the right direction, but we have to accept it was just a small step. But a big step, a win, was definitely possible."

Bryan Mbeumo is space down the right and you can hear the clattering of the seats as the Brentford fans leap up in expectation but the delivery from the Frenchman is poor, straight into the hands of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Frank Onyeka is left in a heap on the ground by Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Anthony Taylor waves play on.

Sergi Canos disagrees but oversteps the line with his protestations and gets a yellow instead.

Chelsea are starting to dictate the tempo of the game, N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic are linking up well in the middle of the park but the Blues have made few inroads after half an hour.

David Raya had his heart in his mouth as Mateo Kovacic's free-kick clips the wall, wrong-foots the Spanish goalkeeper but thankfully for him drops onto the roof of the net.

The tackles are flying in from Brentford, Timo Werner is hassling the Bees backline and is brought down 20 yards out.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been given a rare opportunity today and needs to grab it with both hands.

The leggy central midfielder drives forward and is brought down, but Ben Chilwell's free-kick is wasted, unable to get it past the first man.

Chelsea think they have broken the deadlock when Romelu Lukaku slides in a cute finish but the assistant referee's flag goes up immediately.

Don't need no VAR lines for that, clearly off.

And Brentford almost score with their first shot of the game but Bryan Mbeumo's shot from inside the box rattles the post.

20 minutes in and that Romelu Lukaku free-kick is the only shot we've had in the game.

It's been a slow burner.

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic is the first man into the book for a trip on the tricky Bryan Mbeumo.

Southampton

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl after his side's first Premier League win of the season: "It is important to get the first win, the most important one of the season. It took a bit longer this season. We fully deserved this win.

"We were aggressive and showed some good solutions. It was a demanding game for everybody but the lads did a good job. We had a short two days to prepare for the game and the gameplan worked well I thought."

On his selection of matchwinner Armando Broja paying off: "Nobody gets to play as a present, you have to deserve it and he showed in the international break he can score goals. That's what we were lacking. We had a few outstanding performances today, the back four too with a clean sheet.

"It wasn't our best performance of the season - I'd say that was Manchester City away. We have been close to getting three points but something has been missing.

"It was an intense game with a good end for us."

Chelsea have a free-kick on the edge of the box but Romelu Lukaku curls it wide.

The Brentford fans enjoyed that one, Lukaku is five games without a goal for the Blues.

Norwich City

Norwich striker Teemu Pukki: "I would say it was our best performance this season, certainly offensively. We created plenty of chances and we are disappointed not to win. This is our home and where we need to take points. We need to bury those chances. That is what is most frustrating. I and Josh (Sargent) both had a couple. Two clean sheets in a row is a real improvement on how we started. We are playing better every time."

Wolves

Wolves captain Conor Coady speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "What an incredible win. It was emotional and tough; I didn't think there was much in the game until it all kicked off and went a bit bonkers in the second half. We were disappointed to be two goals down. It is a derby and something we were ready for but full credit to Aston Villa, they are a real top team. We know how tough it is coming here.

"The team spirit on our dressing room is incredible. It is a pleasure to be in this changing room. We never stop; we've got an incredible support base."

On his goal: "I could see my family going mental, as the rest of the Wolves fans were. It doesn't matter how they go in; we work on set pieces a lot."

Mads Bidstrup started putting his shirt on but has been told to sit back down on the bench as Brentford look to give Frank Onyeka a bit of time to see if he can carry on.

He's back on the pitch for the moment.

Leeds United

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I concede that we didn't play well at any moment in the game. The result is fair and it is justified in the first half. In the second half it was more even but we didn't play well in any moment.

"It is not common to not be able to count on six players but the team that started the game was formed of players that usually play. Despite that it was difficult for us to get into the game in the first half, so I don't link the absence of the players to the result of the game.

"I would have hoped to be able to count on all of them, but it is common that in competitions there will be moments when they are absent. Perhaps not six players but with the 11 we started with I imagined we could have done something. I don't ignore the absences but the performance is not linked to this."

On Raphinha travelling to Southampton but not playing: "The effort we made before knowing how many minutes he would play on Friday [for Brazil]. And in what conditions he would arrive. When the decision was taken the possibility existed he would not play minutes on Friday and that would have increased the possibility of him participating. He played 70 minutes and flew 15 hours and got here and rested. Today, he wasn't in condition to play. It was impossible to know this when the decision was taken for him to fly like he did."

Manchester City

Manchester City goalscorer Bernardo Silva speaking to Match of the Day: “We started well, for 25-30 minutes we were good. We should’ve scored more goals - it’s tough to play against Burnley - we know they are physical, set pieces they always put the ball in the box. Second half we should’ve scored earlier to make it more comfortable but at the end of the day we have three points, 2-0, happy with the result.

“What matters is the ball went in the net - I was happy to be there. I was quite lucky it landed there. Always good, we need points to get back to the top of the table, last few games were tough for us, let’s go again.

“Each game is a different game - we know how tough first game after the international break is, but three points and a clean sheet is good - even though we let a few chances through. What matters is we won 2-0 and we’re building confidence and we just try to win again, win again and win again."

On what it's like being left out of the team: “The amount of good players we have in this squad is crazy. All of us are important, we’re fighting for four competitions, we want to go for all four, we want to win them all and we know how tough it is. Only possible if everyone is fit and prepared and does well when asked.

“It’s tough when you’re not playing the minutes you want to. It’s happened with me and most of the players here - you have to fight for your place. The amount of good players we have in this squad I imagine it’s not easy for the manager to choose the team. I’m happy with the team so far this season - everyone is ready to go and do their best.”
