    Steady on Pablo, son.

He has already been booked and takes a risk by hanging a boot in on Andros Townsend. No second booking but it is a dangerous free-kick to the home side...

West Ham should be 1-0 up with that Pablo Fornals opportunity.

He was completely unmarked as he took his first touch, all the Everton defenders dropped off and let him have a go.

West Ham, as a goal threat, are really growing in this game again.

    Ah, poor shot!

The counter ends with Michail Antonio takes a pop at goal from outside the box but he gets right underneath it and sends it whistling over.

Demarai Gray takes the corner... but straight into the hands of Lucasz Fabianski. He senses a break is on and delivers quickly...

And now Everton have a corner. It was that Gray-Townsend combo working well again to win it.

Andy: Sluggish start inviting pressure from West Ham in the first 15-20 mins. Everton have grown into the game, Gray playing well again. Doucoure coming into the game more. Definitely a foul on him in the build up to the goal rightly disallowed for offside.

    West Ham sense a moment.

They come forward again but Pablo Fornals' radar isn't quite working and he curls a shot wide of the far post.

It ends up being two corners as the first is nodded behind at the near post.

The second breaks to the edge of the box for a lashed shot from Jarrod Bowen that is blocked by a defender.

West Ham corner. The home fans think they should have a foul for a little shive by Michail Antonio on Ben Godfrey. The ref clearly thinks the home defender made to much of it.

  10. 'Elegance and style from West Ham'published at 14:37 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    Everton 0-0 West Ham

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The elegance, the style of passing, the quality of movement from West Ham there was brilliant.

That was excellent from Said Benrahma with the stepover, with his play. He passes it forward, Tomas Soucek lays it off, Jarrod Bowen with a touch and shot, it's an absolutely wonderful save from Jordan Pickford.

When Soucek puts in the rebound he's offside.

More good work from Demarai Gray as he takes a ball down superbly in the West Ham half. His shot at the end of a little run is poor, though.

I'd rather play with 10 men than a full team with Iwobi in it...

  13. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 34 mins

    Everton 0-0 West Ham

West Ham think they've taken the lead! But the flag is up!

It's the right call too. Jarrod Bowen's low shot is pushed out by Jordan Pickford and followed up by Tomas Soucek, who fire high into the net but was offside when the initial shot came in.

    Good spell this from Everton.

Andros Townsend tricks his way to the byline for a cross that Abdoulaye Doucoure rises to meet but heads wide.

The momentum of the game has shifted.

    Everton threaten again.

Alex Iwobi tries to make amends for his earlier miss with a fine cross that has Lukasz Fabianski diving out to push away. He doesn't quite get enough on it and Aaron Cresswell has to complete the clearance ahead of Demarai Gray.

  16. 'Pace, power, desire from Gray'published at 14:30 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    Everton 0-0 West Ham

It's absolutely fantastic play from Demarai Gray.

It's everything we've seen from him this season - pace, power, desire to get over the top and chase that ball from Andros Townsend.

He drops his shoulder and goes past Angelo Ogbonna and fires the ball in. Alex Iwobi has to do better in the middle.

Pablo Fornals into the book for leaving a boot in on Andros Townsend as Everton look to break. The West Ham man says he got the ball. I'm not so sure.

And there, in a nutshell, is why you get the ball to Demarai Gray as often as possible.

Less said about Iwobi's fluffed shot the better.

    Best chance of the game!

Demarai Gray's first real involvement sees him skin Angelo Ogbonna on the right and fire over a low cross that Alex Iwobi just needs to side-foot home but completely misses.

  20. 'Everton applying some pressure'published at 14:26 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    Everton 0-0 West Ham

Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Everton have started to get closer to West Ham, putting them under a little pressure.

That just comes from Everton making the spaces smaller, getting the team up in general.

They're making the distances that Everton's midfield have to close down 10 yards rather than 15. It makes a huge difference when you're out there on the pitch.
