Everton v West Ham (14:00 BST)

West Ham are likely to provide a stern test today, though, to prevent Everton reaching that 17-point tally.

The Hammers have won three of their past six Premier League matches at Goodison Park, after they were victorious in only two of the previous 19 away meetings. They can win consecutive away league games against the Toffees for the first time since March 1930 today.

They can also equal the club Premier League record of seven consecutive away fixtures unbeaten.

    Carlton Cole
Former West Ham striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

When you've got Michail Antonio in that West Ham team and you look at the goal contributions he has, assisting and scoring, you just know that something's going to happen. There's going to be goals in this game.

Hopefully, we're in for a spectacular game. Both teams are playing exciting football.

Both managers are quite similar - they want to work hard first, set the stall out, then the flair players come out.

Just the goalkeepers out warming up at Goodison Park at the moment. Meanwhile, up at St James' Park I can report that every seat appears to have a flag stuck on it ready for the fan in question to wave. Nothing like a free little flag to get the locals on side.

  6. Everton aiming highpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

Everton v West Ham (14:00 BST)

Interestingly, a victory for Everton against West Ham would give the Toffees 17 points and a notable David Moyes-themed milestone.

It would be their highest tally after eight games of a Premier League season, surpassing the 16 points won in 2004-05 under Moyes.

  7. Moyes' returnpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

Everton v West Ham (14:00 BST)

Yes, David Moyes is heading back to the ground where his Premier League career began. The Scot was in charge of Everton from 2002 to 2013 - an impressive stint that included leading the club into Europe four times, including the Champions League in 2005-06.

We won't talk about his time at Manchester United, but he is now firmly back on the right path at West Ham, working the same old magic.

And here is the main man, during his Everton days. And look who's lurking behind him. Topical.

So still no Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison for Everton. Big absentees.

But the Toffees have done pretty well in their absence. Demarai Gray and Salomon Rondon will continue in attack, backed up ably by Andros Townsend and Alex Iwobi.

West Ham are looking to bounce back from that loss to Brentford. It's the usual mix of power, pace and craft in their side.

Everton v West Ham (14:00 BST)

    Everton v West Ham

Everton make two changes to the side that drew 1-1 at Manchester United before the international break.

Yerry Mina was in action for Colombia and only flew back to Merseyside on Friday so is on the bench, with Seamus Coleman coming in. Alex Iwobi replaced Anthony Gordon in the other change.

Everton XI: Pickford, Coleman, Godfrey, Keane, Digne, Townsend, Doucoure, Allan, Iwobi, Gray, Rondon.

    Everton v West Ham

West Ham boss David Moyes makes just one change from their last-gasp defeat by Brentford last time out.

Ben Johnson comes in at right-back in place of Vladimir Coufal.

West Ham XI: Fabianski, Johnson, Zouma, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Soucek, Rice, Bowen, Benrahma, Fornals, Antonio.

    The calm before the storm.

Things are likely to get a bit rowdy around St James' Park later, after what has been a crazy and controversial 10 days in the north east.

There'll be plenty of time to discuss that later, though.

First we have a game at Goodison Park to take care of. The David Moyes derby no less. And the team news is already in...
