  1. Aberdeen pay heavy price - Glasspublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

    FT: Raith Rovers 2-1 Aberdeen

Aberdeen manager Stephen Glass tells BBC Scotland: "We allowed Raith to create an atmosphere with the way they started the second half and the response from the group isn't what it should have been, the quality wasn't what it should have been, and we've paid a heavy, heavy price for it.

"It's a massive disappointment we're not in the next round. The group that were on the pitch in the first half showed they were good enough to win and control the game. The reaction to the adversity that came and the cup tie atmosphere that started happening wasn't good enough.

"You get what you deserve at the end of the day and the second half performance we got what we deserved."

    FT: Raith Rovers 2-1 Aberdeen

A delighted Raith Rovers manager John McGlynn tells BBC Sportsound: "It was a brilliant cup win and I am delighted the fans were here to see it.

"We got back into the game through Ethon Varian and it was a really well-taken goal. Then we got the winner. We were well in the game and anything can happen.

"We put a bit of pressure on Aberdeen. I am delighted for the guys today. We showed composure. I'll crack a bottle of champagne, possibly."

New midfield arrival James McCarthy is among the substitutes and could make his debut this afternoon.

Hearts replace winger Josh Ginnelly with Stephen Kingsley returning.

It's a huge blow for Stephen Glass and the club. How Gurr stayed on the pitch is beyond me. He was at the centre of both Raith goals.

We're under way at Gayfield and Easter Road. Is there another upset afoot?

  12. Can Hibs recover from Rijeka rout?published at 13:58 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

    Hibernian v Kilmarnock (14:00)

Hibs' excellent start to the campaign came to a shuddering halt in the heat of Croatia on Thursday when they were dumped 4-1 by Rijeka to crash out of Europa Conference League qualifying.

Skipper Paul Hanlon missed that one with concussion and he's out again, while striker Christian Doidge is now a long-term absentee, which has put a dampner on things.

Hibs beat relegated Kilmarnock in all three meetings last season but Tommy Wright has completely overhauled the squad at Rugby Park and the visitors will want to prove this is the level they belong at.

  13. From Galatasaray to Gayfield for Saintspublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

    Arbroath v St Johnstone (14:00)

Cup holders St Johnstone begin their defence away to Arbroath in just a jiffy.

Gayfield will be quite the contrast to a packed McDiarmid Park on Thursday when Saints' Europa League hopes were dashed by Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Arbroath's style may also be rather different and you can be sure Dick Campbell's Championship will be right up for this one.

A much-changed St Johnstone team will need to have their wits about them.

  14. FULL-TIME Raith Rovers 2-1 Aberdeenpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

    Rovers have done it!

The Fifers are into the quarter-finals for the first time since 1994 - when they famously went on to lift the League Cup.

Aberdeen controlled much of the first half and led thanks to a sweet Jay Emmanuel-Thomas strike.

However, the Championship side came storming back with goals from Ethon Varian and Dario Zanatta to cause a major upset.
