  5. Livi defending 'amateur at best' - Martindalepublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    FT: Livingston 1-2 Motherwell

Livingston manager David Martindale tells BBC Sportsound his team conceded 'bad, bad goals' in their defeat by Motherwell.

"I don't think we were good enough," he says. "We didn't defend the box well enough.

"The goals we give away are amateur at best. They are bad, bad goals to give away.

"We don't take our chances and give away two cheap goals. All over the park, we were off it.

"We were left a bit nervous at times. I have no worries about the group, but we have to start picking points up sooner rather than later."

  6. 'Big decisions go against you'published at 17:40 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    FT: Celtic 6-0 St Mirren

Lee Sharp, who was in charge with manager Jim Goodwin self-isolating with Covid, also thought St Mirren should have had a goal through Curtis Main when Celtic were leading 2-0.

"The goal that we had that got chopped off was perfectly fine, Curtis is onside," the assistant adds. "Big decisions go against you and it makes it harder."

  7. I've seen those given as yellows - Sharppublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    FT: Celtic 6-0 St Mirren

St Mirren assistant manager Lee Sharp tells BBC Sportsound he thought Alan Power's early red card ensured a tough day for his side.

"We know it's going to be tough with 11 - going to 10 so early on makes it a tad harder, shall we say," he says. "Looking back, he's silly going to ground, but those ones have been given as yellows before.

"There was one not too dissimilar with [Ryan] Christie on Ethan Erhahon on the far side and he's not booked."

I don't think anybody could have envisaged Celtic turning the corner so quickly. There is a clear identity to the team and a clear intent in what they're doing - and it's enjoyable to watch

  9. Motherwell 'forced the issue' - Alexanderpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    FT: Livingston 1-2 Motherwell

Motherwell manager Graham Alexander tells BBC Sportsound that a half-time talk helped his side on their way to a comeback win in Livingston.

"I thought we were very unlucky to be 1-0 down at half-time," he said. "We lost a little bit of discipline in our shape after that. We settled the players down.

"We told them we were the better team in the first 30 minutes and to not feel sorry for themselves - as Livingston wouldn't. They went out, forced the issue and won the game."

  10. Confidence and signings key for Celticpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    FT: Celtic 6-0 St Mirren

David Turnbull impressed for Celtic last term despite a disappointing season for the side as a whole, but the midfielder has reached a new level in a side transformed by new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Asked what the difference was this term, the hat-trick man tells BBC Scotland: "I just think everybody's working as hard as we can until the final whistle.

"You saw today we were relentless until the 90th minute and everything's going well at the moment.

"It's just about building confidence and the manager's breeding that through the team and the new signings have settled in well."

  11. Celtic praise for Abada & Turnbullpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    FT: Celtic 6-0 St Mirren

Ange Postecoglou is also full of praise for summer signing Liel Abada, who scored twice, and David Turnbull, who grabbed his first career hat-trick against St Mirren.

"Abada's only 19," he says. "He's got such a positive outlook and intent during games and David was outstanding."

Asked about potential departures from Celtic Park, the manager adds: "I've stayed clear of that and let others handle that side. There's still a little bit of time in the window, so we will deal with those thing when they arise."

  12. We want to be relentless - Postecogloupublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    FT: Celtic 6-0 St Mirren

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou tells BBC Sportsound: "We started the game well. We set off at a good tempo and put them under pressure. The sending off enabled us to control the game very well.

"Right to the end, we were pushing. We want to be relentless in our pursuit of playing our football. Today was a good test of that.

"The squad is quite healthy considering the schedule we have. Hopefully we get more reinforcements and, after the international break, we can build again."

  15. Killie in controlpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    Scottish Championship

Kilmarnock are already justifying their pre-season status as favourites for the second tier title and their impressive 2-0 win away to Hamilton, who were relegated with them, means they top the table with three wins and no goals conceded.

But they are only ahead courtesy of goal difference ahead of a Caley Thistle side who edged out Covid-hit Ayr 1-0.

Partick Thistle started the day on top on goal difference, but found themselves victims of a second-half comeback from part-timers Arbroath, who continue to punch above their weight.
