    Arsenal

Akhil Vyas, supporters trust board member:

"It seems all the talk is about outgoings. I think everyone would agree, Willian’s move to The Arsenal just hasn’t worked out so it’s best for all that deal gets done.

"Interesting that Ainsley Maitland-Niles is in talks with Everton. Arsenal would probably agree they should have sold him to Wolves last summer.

"The one we are looking at is Hector Bellerin - something needs to happen quickly as that’s certainly a position where we would hope Arsenal bring someone in."

Martin: I'd love to see Shearer make an Elvis-style comeback to Newcastle. Think he'd still do better than most of the current squad even with his dodgy knees!

Rick: If I could sign one former player today for Nottingham Forest it would have to be Antonio, not sure what I wouldn’t do to have him donning the garibaldi again with the form he’s in!

Rezaa: I would love Fabregas back at Arsenal. Man could create something out of nothing. Something we're clearly missing.

  4. Done deal - Blackpool sign Chelsea's Sterling on season-long loanpublished at 09:23 British Summer Time 31 August 2021

Dujon Sterling is a 21-year-old right-back, who has represented England at various youth levels and gained previous league experience on loan to Coventry City and Wigan Athletic.

He was part of the England Under-19 squad that won the European Championship in 2017 and Sterling was named in the Team of the Tournament.

“I knew there was interest a couple of weeks ago and I am happy to be here now," Sterling told the Blackpool club website.

"I feel in the best shape of my life, and this is the test that I need. The gaffer has put his trust in me and hopefully I can repay that trust.”

West Ham fans, here is what you have to look forward to with forward Nikola Vlasic.

Watch below as he scores against Scotland at Euro 2020 earlier this year.

  7. Will Vlasic take second Premier League chance?published at 09:12 British Summer Time 31 August 2021

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Nikola Vlasic's progress at West Ham United will be intriguing.

Everton signed Vlasic as a teenager from Hajduk Split in 2017 but the talented forward walked straight into chaos as manager Ronald Koeman was soon sacked and he rarely won favour with his successor Sam Allardyce.

He barely had a chance to make an impression despite his obvious ability. Now he is back as a big-money signing for West Ham United and will be keen to make up for that lost time at Goodison Park.

A statement from the Hammers says: "West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of Croatia international attacker Nikola Vlašić.

"The talented 23-year-old arrives on a five-year deal from Russian Premier League club CSKA Moscow.

"A teenage prodigy with Hajduk Split, Vlašić has already played more 250 senior matches, scored 33 goals and assisted 21 more for CSKA over the previous three seasons, and was named Russian Premier League Footballer of the Year in 2020.

"A regular for Croatia, he has 26 senior caps and featured four times at the recent Uefa Euro 2020 finals, and will now continue his career at London Stadium after representing his country during the current international period."

Russel: I’d love to see Memphis Depay back at Man United. He didn’t get the support he needed as a younger player at the club - if Ole had been in charge I think he’d have blossomed, but he was cast aside by Mourinho. Now look at him.

  11. 'Spurs will spread the cash on promising talent'published at 08:59 British Summer Time 31 August 2021

    Tottenham Hotspur

Nathan A Clark, The Extra Inch podcast:

"After an awful lot of talk about a big bid for Harry Kane that seemingly never came, Spurs have been quietly getting on with it in the market under the charge of new man Fabio Paratici.

"Paratici’s task has been as much about transfers out as it has been about transfers in. Quickly clocking that, after improving the defensive personnel with football’s most aggressive centre-back in Cristian Romero, the second most pressing issue was dramatically improving the age profile of the squad. The once youthful generation of Pochettino’s early years have been getting on and, under Mourinho, Spurs bought with the short-term in mind.

"Toby Alderweireld, Erik Lamela, Moussa Sissoko and, inexplicably, Joe Hart have all been turned for cash leaving Hugo Lloris the only player over 30 left in the squad. Serge Aurier and possibly even the likes of Harry Winks and Matt Doherty could leave more space on the wage bill and registration sheet.

"Tottenham have been spreading - and will be looking to continue to spread - the cash on promising young talents. Skillful dribbler Bryan Gil to have an impact this season, midfielder ball winner/carrier Pape Mata Sarr for another campaign and, still young for a goalkeeper, Pierluigi Gollini to play deputy."

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Might be an interesting day at Tottenham.

The club are keen on Brazilian defender Emerson Royal - and everyone is aware of Barcelona's financial situation.

But Spurs would almost certainly need to sell a right-back in order to buy another one.

Serge Aurier is the most likely but it is not easy for Premier League clubs to offload players in the current market.

  15. Tagliafico to West Ham not happeningpublished at 08:45 British Summer Time 31 August 2021

Some reports coming out of the Netherlands are still linking Ajax full-back Nicolas Tagliafico with a move to West Ham, but I'm told talks broke down over the weekend.

Other sources have said the Hammers were not interested in the 29-year-old, so think it's safe to say a move to east London for the Argentine international ain't happening.

  17. 'Departures more likely than arrivals'published at 08:39 British Summer Time 31 August 2021

    Manchester City

Nigel Rothband, host of the Man City Show podcast:

"At the start of the transfer window, a striker to replace the irreplaceable Sergio Aguero was probably top of many City fans’ shopping list. Others would argue, a replacement striker was a ‘nice to have’. Remember City outscored their closest League rival by 10 goals last season with Aguero only scoring four. Also, our last three home games have ended 5-0, 5-0 and 5-0! So Jack Grealish is our only buy so far and a very sensible buy he is. He can take people on, work in tight spaces and can create chances.

"City have a top quality squad of 22 senior professionals, but still have an opportunity to bring in three players if they want to bring the squad up to the 25 maximum allowed by the Premier League. Also, there are a number of academy prospects who may add some options as the season progresses. That having been said, it seems nigh on impossible for any more additions at this point and more likely to see players leave than join.

"That just leaves the ubiquitous question of finding a world class left-back - perhaps we will need to wait until January."

  18. 'Surely Pep should have prioritised Kane over Grealish?'published at 08:37 British Summer Time 31 August 2021

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Speaking on the Monday Night Club: "The Champions League final last season - Man City had a major problem. Chelsea saw them off easily.

"In the games that matter, had City signed Harry Kane, they would have been a different proposition. The fact that Pep [Guardiola] made it so public that he wanted Harry Kane, he can't be happy. He will still want a top striker in, to have that option.

"Should they have gone for Kane before Jack Grealish? At the weekend, they can bring Raheem Sterling on, they can bring Riyad Mahrez on, incredible players to bring off the bench - but they still don't have that top quality striker. Surely Harry Kane should have been the priority?"

  20. 'One of the best transfer windows'published at 08:29 British Summer Time 31 August 2021

    Leicester City

Chris Forryan, Leicester Til I Die podcast:

"This has been one of the best transfers windows I can remember.

"I love the way Leicester look ahead, Jamie Vardy’s replacement in Patson Daka is a master stroke as is the capture of box to box midfielder Boubakary Soumare. Whilst Ruan Bertrand’s was an un-Rodgers like signing it shows insight in getting that experienced head in the back four as well as cover for a young Luke Thomas.

"Wesley Fofana’s injury in the pre season ‘friendly’ to Villarreal was quickly dealt with, and within one weeks we had cover in Jannik Vestergaard from Southampton.

"A good window can also be seen as who you do not sell, and this may be the window where we manage to hold onto all our start players. Although we are a club that does NOT HAVE to sell when clubs make it impossible to turn down a huge profit it happens. Harvey Barnes has signed a new contract, the James Maddison to Arsenal rumours was based more Arsenal fans dreams than actual negotiations.

"Do we need to bring in any more players? Yes, but we may have to sell to do that as Vestergaard was £15m we hadn’t planned on selling. I hope for a new right winger as cover for Marc Albrighton and hopefully as a replacement for Ayoze Perez, but it may be a loan if we can't sell. Also an extra centre-back, again a loan move, is being mooted."
