  1. 'Chelsea dream of being champions again'

    "The loan deal for Saul Niguez is one that makes sense for both player and club. He may have been out of form over the past year but can provide invaluable depth and competition in the one area of the Chelsea team that was lacking viable alternatives.

    "That’s not to say Saul is here to make up the numbers either, capable of filling the N'Golo Kante or Jorginho role in this Tuchel midfield, he’s not too dissimilar to Mateo Kovacic in that he’s technically proficient and can seemingly do it all but with the added bonus of having an eye for goal. Romelu Lukaku + Saul represent an amazing summer for the club and the dream of being Premier League champions once again."

  2. Costa leaves Leeds for Valencia

  7. Sarabia leaves PSG on loan

    Paris St-Germain midfielder Pablo Sarabia has joined Sporting Lisbon on loan until the end of the season.

    The Spain international, 29, scored 22 goals in 79 games for PSG.

    Portugal full-back Nuno Mendes, 19, moved the other way on a season-long loan deal, in a transfer confirmed about an hour ago.

  8. Saul 'completes our squad'

    Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said: "We welcome Saul to the club and believe he completes our squad as we compete for honours in five different competitions this season.

    "He is a proven winner, a player with huge experience and we know he will be very well suited to the challenges that face us on all fronts in the coming year."

    Chelsea's signing of Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid is a season-long loan deal with an option for a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

    "I am very excited to start this new challenge with Chelsea. Blues fans, I am one of you now and I can’t wait to wear the shirt, start training and see all of you. See you soon!" said the 26-year-old Spain international.

    Saul - who was previously linked to Manchester United - has played 447 matches for Atletico and scored 53 goals.

  15. Rondon 'grateful' for Benitez faith

    Salomon Rondon is back in the Premier League with Everton and reunited with boss Rafael Benitez, who managed him at Newcastle and Dalian Professional.

    "I'm really glad to be back in the Premier League. It’s a competition I enjoyed playing in and where I felt the fans’ support in every game," said Rondon.

    “Defending the colours of a club with a history as rich as Everton’s fills me with pride.

    Portugal left-back Nuno Mendes, 19, has moved on loan from Sporting Lisbon. There is reported an option to buy for 40m euros (£34m) next summer.
