    FT: Cardiff 3-0 Swansea

So that's about all there is left to say after one of the most one-sided south Wales derbies in recent memory.

It's pretty simple, Swansea fans are delighted, Cardiff fans are devastated.

There can be little doubt the best side won on the day.

Thank you for following along with us and enjoy the rest of your weekend, unless you're are a Cardiff fan, in which case, endure the rest of your weekend.

  2. 'Cardiff in relegation danger'published at 14:25 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    FT: Swansea 3-0 Cardiff

    Jason Perry
Former Cardiff defender on BBC Radio Wales

If you offered me Cardiff finishing one point above the relegation zone at the end of the season, I'd snap your hand off.

This club is right in a corner now.

The academy is not in line with the first team.

You've got a squad that lacks balance and, once you lose your fight, alarm bells are really ringing.

Unless the owner [Vincent Tan] gives the new manager money to spend in January, I don't think they're good enough to stay up.

  4. 'I don't know where this leaves me'published at 14:23 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    FT: Swansea 3-0 Cardiff

Cardiff City manager Mick McCarthy told Sky Sports:

"We started really well, the game plan worked and we had two really good chances.

"We conceded from a poor kick out and then from 28 minutes they were the dominant side.

"We were well beaten in the end.

"I thought for 28 minutes we implemented our plan well.

"When the chances come you have to take them.

"When you're on a run like we are, it doesn't help confidence.

"I don't know where this leaves me. It leaves me very sad with how we've played.

"It's like the silly questions I'm asked in press conferences.

"I will keep doing the job until someone tells me otherwise.

"We need a result. This league does throw up some strange ones and we will go to Fulham to try and get a result."

  5. 'Cardiff won't change'published at 14:20 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    FT: Swansea 3-0 Cardiff

    Iwan Roberts
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

Are they going to change the style of play?

No, because they haven't got the players to do that.

Yes, they've had success under Neil Warnock and Malky Mackay with a direct style - but the game has changed.

  6. 'It was incredible'published at 14:19 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    FT: Swansea 3-0 Cardiff

Swansea City manager Russell Martin told Sky Sports:

"I think we all loved our performance, it was incredible.

"It was scary for the first 15 minutes but we rode the storm.

"After we scored I thought we caused them a lot of problems.

"We got a bit sloppy but then I thought we recovered brilliantly and by the end we could have scored more.

"We were so brave... and the atmosphere was superb.

"We showed real calmness in quality and in front of goal and that was the difference today.

"Jamie Paterson has got better and better for us. He's a brilliant character.

"He's such an important part of what we are doing.

"I hope he is enjoying it, he's playing some of the best football he has played.

"Maybe we should have had a penalty, but we've won 3-0!

"We've been here 10 weeks and we feel so connected to the fans already.

"They have been patient... unbelievable. Hopefully we can get better.

"We are a work in progress."

  7. 'Like a training game, first against reserves'published at 14:14 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    FT: Swansea 3-0 Cardiff

    Jason Perry
Former Cardiff defender on BBC Radio Wales

Swansea cannot wait for the next training session, the next match.

They've got their chests puffed out and they've been part of a performance that was really good.

As for Cardiff, I didn't see a group of players who thought they needed to do something to get a result.

Don't just chuck your arms about and say you're doing your best.

Mick McCarthy will have to hold his hands up as well. It was like a training game, first against reserves.

  8. 'This has been coming'published at 14:11 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    FT: Swansea 3-0 Cardiff

    Iwan Roberts
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

This kind of result has been coming from Swansea.

They've been playing well but not got the results because they haven't been putting the ball in the net.

There are ways to lose a derby game and that's not the way.

I look at that Cardiff side and they're hard to watch. They lack ideas.

  10. 'Men against boys'published at 14:08 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    FT: Swansea 3-0 Cardiff

    Ian Walsh
Former Swansea striker on BBC Radio Wales

It was men against boys tactically.

Physically, Swansea worked a lot harder than Cardiff.

Cardiff were bereft of any idea of how to play the game.

They were a very poor, inept side.

Cardiff have got to look at themselves massively.

There will be discussion about Mick McCarthy's future.

The style of play is so old-fashioned. They need to change the philosophy.

Swansea aren't perfect but they're going in the right direction.

Unless Cardiff see the direction football is going in, they're going to stay rooted and dismal.
