  1. 'It's just pure joy when I play and I realise how lucky I am'published at 11:32 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    Swansea v Cardiff (12:00 BST)

Our colleagues at BBC Tees have done a lovely interview with former Cardiff City defender and fan favourite Sol Bamba.

Bamba is still playing at the age of 36 after overcoming non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

"I don't dwell on the past. Sometimes I think about what I've done or doing as in training and playing games," he said.

"It's crazy, I can't even put it into words. A couple of months ago, after chemo I remember feeling so low and bad I never thought I could have come back and played football again.

"It's just pure joy when I play and I realise how lucky I am."

  2. Slade's legal action makes headlinespublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    Swansea v Cardiff (12:00 BST)

Former Cardiff City manager Russell Slade was in the news this week.

Hundreds of footballers have threatened legal action against the data collection industry, which could change how information is handled.

Led by former Bluebirds, Leyton Orient and Yeovil Town boss Slade, 850 players want compensation for the trading of their performance data over the past six years.

They also want an annual fee from the companies for any future use.

"Letters before action" have been sent to 17 big firms, alleging data misuse.

  3. Silverstein 'emotionally invested'published at 11:25 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    Swansea v Cardiff (12:00 BST)

Chief executive Julian Winter says Jake Silverstein is "emotionally invested" in Swansea City and believes he will have a bigger role in the club's future.

Silverstein joined Swansea's board of directors in August 2020.

The American businessman visited the club for the first time earlier this season.

"I think he, I would say, is more than financially invested, he is emotionally invested," Winter said.

I'm quite relaxed because I know exactly where these two clubs are at the moment.

You look at the team sheets and Big Mick [McCarthy] has packed it with centre-halves and big players.

It's going to be intriguing. You can't call it.

  5. Where will the goals come from?published at 11:22 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

The question for both sets of fans today surrounds who is going to deliver in the final third.

Swansea have played some attractive football of late, but they are among the lowest scorers in the Championship and have found the target on only two occasions on this ground in the league this season.

Cardiff, meantime, have scored just once in their last five games.

You have to go back to 2010 to find the last south Wales derby in which both sides scored. Judging by this season's numbers, it will be no shock should that statistic remain intact come this evening.

    Swansea v Cardiff (12:00 BST)

It seems Swansea and Cardiff are not the only clubs in south Wales taking an interest in today's big derby.

  13. South Wales derby clubs unite in anti-racism messagepublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    Swansea v Cardiff (12:00 BST)

Swansea City and Cardiff City will use today's south Wales derby to deliver a strong anti-racism message.

Both sets of players, as well as officials, will warm up in Show Racism the Red Card Cymru T-shirts.

The fixture between the Championship sides will be using the slogan 'Rivals on the Pitch, United Against Racism'.

"This is an important message that everyone at Swansea City feels very passionate about," Swansea chief executive Julian Winter said.

Winter's Cardiff counterpart, Ken Choo, said: "Whilst our on-field sporting rivalry with Swansea City will reignite on Sunday, our united stance alongside them and their supporters in delivering this important message is absolute.

"I'd like to thank all involved for their commitment to this cause which must remain at the top of all clubs' agendas."

Swansea players Rhys Williams, Yan Dhanda, Morgan Whittaker, Ben Cabango and Jamal Lowe have all received racist abuse over the past year.

"As we have seen recently, racism and discrimination is sadly still evident in the game, and our players have been subjected to vile and disgusting abuse over the course of this year," Winter added.

"In April we took the unprecedent step of becoming the first football club in world football to take a social media boycott, and we continue to have the strongest view on eliminating racism and discrimination from the game we all love.

"With huge focus on the south Wales derby, this is the perfect opportunity for both clubs to unite and deliver an important message - rivals on the pitch, united against racism. It's time for change."

  14. Good morningpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 17 October 2021

    Swansea v Cardiff (12:00 BST)

    Good morning,

This is a big, big football day in south Wales.

If you are a Swansea or Cardiff fan, chances are you have already been up for a few hours. How are those nerves?

This game, really, really matters around these parts, with bragging rights at stake as another chapter is written in the story of this intense rivalry.

Last season this was a meeting between two sides with genuine aspirations of promotion and a place in the Premier League, but life comes at you fast in the Championship.

The two south Wales sides are now perilously close to the relegation zone and the pressure is mounting on Bluebirds boss Mick McCarthy.

Swansea boss Russell Martin would love a derby victory as he looks to win over the Swans' fanbase, so the stage is set for a truly intriguing contest.

We will bring you that all-important team news shortly.
