It looked for all the world that we'd be heading into the break goalless but the Cherries broke Reading's resistance from a set-piece just before half-time.

Danny Drinkwater felt he had kept the ball in play but the officials signalled the corner that Bournemouth went on to score from.

In truth, they didn't defend the corner well at all but should it have been one in the first place they will ask.

Dominic Solanke has his 11th goal of the season and Bournemouth are on course to stay unbeaten.

GOAL: Reading 0-1 Bournemouthpublished at 43 mins

    Dominic Solanke

Gary Cahill is given the freedom of the Reading penalty area to nod a corner back across goal where Dominic Solanke gleefully heads it home.

It's almost cleared off the line by a Royals defender and it may end up going down as an own goal but for now it's Solanke's!

Cahill had far too much room there and Bournemouth lead.

It was a contested corner to begin with so Reading will be unhappy with that for various reasons.

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

A great reverse ball from Jaidon Anthony finds Philip Billing inside the box but his cutback is blocked and another opportunity isn't quite get finished off.

Ryan Christie then swings in a great ball into the mixer with his left foot but it evades all of his team-mates.

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

Gavin Kilkenny goes into the book for bringing John Swift down as the Reading man looked to spring a counter.

Seconds later Jaidon Anthony is cautioned too for a bodycheck.

Swift swings the free-kick in but it's easily cleared.

    And still we wait.

    Ten minutes to the break.

It's been entertaining but we're lacking any goalmouth action with neither keeper tested.

Can someone take the advantage before half-time?

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

Ryan Christie cuts in on his left foot and lets fly but it's way, way off target.

He ignored a good overlapping run from Jack Stacey who has a disappointing trot back to his position.

Meanwhile, Gary Cahill is down and receiving treatment. Not sure what that's about but it looks like he's ok to continue.

  8. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

Scott Parker's men have seen off the early charge of Reading who are now getting pressed back themselves.

Bournemouth are enjoying plenty of possession and probing for a weakness in the backline.

So far without success but they are controlling things now.

  9. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

The hosts have been excellent in the opening 25 minutes and have made a few good openings but crucially they are yet to test Mark Travers.

Bournemouth are slowly getting into their stride but are yet to click in the way we've seen them do so often this season.

No shots on target for either side.

  10. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

Now Bournemouth's best chance as Jordan Zemura finds space on the left and tries to find the unmarked Dominic Solanke but Liam Moore gets a crucial block in.

Gary Cahill heads a difficult chance over from a cross soon after.

    Better from Bournemouth.

  11. CLOSE!published at 18 mins

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

    It's all Reading!

John Swift closes Gary Cahill down and crosses with a delicious rabona flick towards George Puscas who can only poke it wide.

Great work from Swift and that would have been assist of the season had it come off!

  12. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

Minutes after receiving that booking Josh Laurent is up the other end, winning the ball and driving towards goal.

However he tries a difficult outside of the boot shot and it sails well wide.

The first bit was good, the second not so much.

Not a lot is the answer....

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

Josh Laurent lunges into a challenge as Bournemouth full-back Jordan Zemura strides forward with intent.

It's a booking for the Royals man who mistimed the challenge and caught Zemura who looks like he's hurt as he's helped to his feet.

Free-kick for the Cherries - what can they do with it?

  15. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

Bournemouth very much yet to get into their stride and it's Reading making all the running.

They're pushing the Cherries back towards their own goal and are looking dangerous in attack.

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

Chance for Reading! A one-two between John Swift and George Puscas sees the Romanian slide an effort wide from close-range.

It wouldn't have counted as the flag is raised but it was a good opening.

Reading's full-backs Baba Rahman and Andy Yiadom are getting forward at every opportunity and the hosts have started on the front foot here.

Veljko Paunovic will be happy with what he is seeing but they probably need to capitalise.

  17. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

An even start and Reading waste a good opportunity to put pressure on the visitors from a set-piece.

Tom Dele-Bashiru did well to win a corner but the short dead ball routine didn't work at all allowing Dominic Solanke to nip in and clear.

Just get it in the box!

  18. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

The whistle goes and we're under way in Reading.

A minute's silence was observed just before kick-off as this is Reading's last home game before Remembrance Sunday.

  19. Can Cherries stay unbeaten?published at 19:57 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Reading v Bournemouth (20:00 BST)

Bournemouth are on a great run and Scott Parker obviously believes in the mantra of not changing a winning team.

There's a welcome return to the matchday squad for Lewis Cook who has been out with a long-term knee injury.

Bournemouth have won 10 of their 14 league games this season and are now looking to become the first Championship side since Brighton in 2015-16 to remain unbeaten through their first 15 matches of the season.

The Seagulls eventually lost their 22nd fixture that season - not bad going!

  20. Dangerous Dannpublished at 19:54 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Reading v Bournemouth (20:00 BST)

Liam Moore captains Reading as they look to pick up a win after defeats in their last two outings.

They'll be looking to top scorer John Swift for goals and there's room for two men with plenty of Premier League experience in Scott Dann and Danny Drinkwater.

Dann has scored four league goals against Bournemouth, double the number he’s managed against any other side.

He's scored in four of his last five appearances against the Cherries, all with former club Crystal Palace - will he get another tonight?
