Norwich sack manager Farke
Simon Stone
BBC Sport
The decision was clearly made prior to today’s game but club preferred to leave preparations rather than cause disruption.
Sporting director Stuart Webber told Daniel Farke once he had done his media. Decision was based on long sequence of results.
Club would hope to have someone in for next game and under circumstances have been looking at potential candidates but stress need to get right man.

I think the sacking of Farke has been coming for a while. I’m sad because of what he’s achieved with us but ask me if I think he’s the manager to keep us up and I have to answer truthfully and say no he isn’t...
Mark, Norwich fan, Derby
Be careful what you wish for - who knows if Farke could have built on today's result. Thank you for the memories.

Brighton 1-1 Newcastle
Newcastle United
Newcastle caretaker manager Graeme Jones, speaking to BBC Sport on sending off the Brighton goalkeeper: "I can see Callum Wilson going round the keeper and putting the ball in the empty net but we were denied that.
"The response from the boys (to the Brighton opener) was outstanding.
"Brighton are an on the ball team. The power is always with an on the ball team and we had to be in the game and slowly grow into it. We improved the high press today, we were better playing out from the back. In the end I think there was only one team in it."
Thought you'd win it when Lewis Dunk went in goal? "I did yeah, we didn't have a shot on goal which was disappointing."
On Eddie Howe watching the game: "I've not spoken to them. I think they will see this performance and realise they inherit a healthy football club. We are all together here. We have had a bad start, every point matters.
"I was assured from minute one that the owners wanted me as part of any management team that comes in. I am delighted. We will have to se what the future holds but hopefully I will still be here."

"We know we have the ability within our playing squad and staff to start picking up points." I'm sorry but I don't think any manager in world football could keep Norwich's squad up.

Pablo: Feels strange that, after 4 years and two relegations, Norwich’s board think it’s a well-timed decision to sack Daniel Farke on match day 11, after winning his first game of the season.
Matthew: Well. Certainly didn’t see that coming. Goodbye Daniel Farke. You made watching Norwich fun again despite the struggles this season.
FT: Brighton 1-1 Newcastle
Brighton & Hove Albion
Brighton boss Graham Potter tells BBC Sport: "We played really well, controlled the game, forced them back, created chances and scored a goal. Newcastle were sitting deep and playing on the counter. Upto their goal, we had control of the game and lost our way a little bit. A lesson in this league, you don't have to do too much wrong to concede a goal. But it is a point we will take.
On Robert Sanchez red card: "Not a great action from us, it is not great when Callum Wilson goes round the goalkeeper but something for us to improve on. Lewis Dunk is a centre-back but he has done it (gone in goals) before sometime in his career, the captain steps up. We dealt with it well going down to 10 men, the spirit was good and we tried.
"It looked like it was a penalty but it took a bit of time for the referee to see it, it is the right decision in the end."
On Tariq Lamptey: "He is not fully fit, we are still getting him back up to speed but he had a good stint today. He was really good, played his part and tried to affect their backline.
"Anything can happen only at 1-0 in the Premier League. You have to deal with whatever comes after you concede, considering the end of the game we take a point and prepare for Aston Villa now."

Jon: 10/11 games played. 4 PL managers relieved of duties. Has to be some record? And surely more to come?
FT: Brighton 1-1 Newcastle
Newcastle United
Newcastle caretaker manager Graeme Jones, speaking to BT Sport: "I wanted a win. Another VAR decision against us, it happens, I'm not disputing that but I'm talking about the reaction of the players. We have had some difficult moments this season but the group is together and you saw that with the response in the second half."
On Brighton sending off: "I can see Callum running that into the back of the net. Things have gone against us but no-one will feel sorry for you. You have to do something about it, that is the performance we got today."
On Eddie Howe being in the stands: "I am aware of it. I haven't no (had any conversations about it). The owners assured me three weeks ago that they still want me at the club.
"In my time in the last couple of weeks it has been a process. You have to start with solidity, which we did against Chelsea and today we were more on the front foot. You can't go from the Tottenham game where we were wide open to playing like Barcelona.
"There is a process, we are still in it and I think if I were Eddie I would go away quite happy."
FT: Brighton 1-1 Newcastle
Brighton & Hove Albion
Brighton boss Graham Potter tells BT Sport: "Up to the goal we had really good control and pushed them back. We did our best to keep them quiet and their goal changed the complexion of the game. It is nigh on impossible to control a Premier League game for 90 minutes. A point is good.
"It looked like Callum Wilson was through, it wasn't the best action from us, but you have to credit Newcastle who came here with a plan.
"While it is still 1-0, you have to keep fighting. We will get better for that experience, it is something we have to go through."

Nicky: Farke sacked after winning today, albeit Norwich having a bad season so far. Wouldn't have made any difference even if Norwich lost 12-0 today. PL is a strange place at times.

This must have been in the thought process for a while.
We don't like to see people sacked, but Norwich City want the best chance to be in the Premier League.
You look at teams like Brentford, they're competitive. Norwich haven't been.
I looked at their game against Leeds. They weren't positive. I know they scored but they never looked like finding the net for most of that game.
FT: Brighton 1-1 Newcastle
Newcastle United
Newcastle wing-back Matt Ritchie: "We got up the pitch a little better than we did in the first half. In the first half we showed them a little bit too much respect but second half we pressed.
"The pressure on the ball at the top of the pitch helps the backline. It is a knock on effect.
"We have not created enough of late. We know that as a group, we know it is a challenge for us and it was pleasing to get the goal. The longer it went on we fancied the winner."
On Eddie Howe, who was watching the game: "I am not sure if it confirmed yet or what is happening but for me my time with him was fantastic, I loved every minute. We have a young hungry group here and I am sure he can bring out the best in them if he is appointed.
"What he did at Bournemouth was nothing short of a miracle. I have all the praise in the world for him.
"We have some really talented players. It is just about getting the group confidence."

I think if Norwich have to make a change, they have to make it now to give themselves a change.
I think Farke's done a fantastic job, Norwich backed his model, they gave him a four-year deal in the summer.

Norwich say backroom staff members Eddie Riemer, Chris Domogalla and Christopher John have all also left the club.
Sporting director Stuart Webber said: “In continuing to demand the very best for our football club, this decision was not an easy one.
“I know how determined Daniel and his staff were to succeed at this level, but we feel that now is the right time for a change to give ourselves the best opportunity of retaining our Premier League status.
“All at Norwich City should be forever grateful to Daniel and his staff for the significant role they have played in our journey. They helped deliver two Championship titles, many memorable moments and they all fully bought into our philosophy and what it means to be part of this football club.
“Daniel and his staff will always be welcome back here. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their hard work and wish them well for the future.
“It’s important that we now look forward. We have 27 league games remaining and a long way to go in the current season. We know we have the ability within our playing squad and staff to start picking up points and climbing the league table.”
