On Conor Gallagher: "When you look at him play he is enjoying himself on the field. He is surrounded by players who make him feel he is at home. We knew he would be an important player for us because of the energy he brings."

    HT: Brighton 1-0 Newcastle

    Jonathan Overend
    BBC Radio 5 Live commentator

Newcastle are bottom of the table, they haven't had a shot on goal yet, Brighton have dominated.

Jacob Murphy has been impressive at right wingback for Newcastle, he's in for Javier Manquillo, the Newcastle fans have been appreciative of the fact he's given it a go.

Apart from that, not much going on for Newcastle today other than seeing their new manager Eddie Howe.

Adam: We are bottom of the league and that's exactly where we deserve to be. We are indeed the worst team in the division.

Gibbo: This Newcastle defence has completely lost all ability and confidence over the last 2 years, how Clark and Lascelles start ahead of Schar and Fede is criminal after their last month of 0 communication defending.

Kyle: Trossard went down after the contact. It's a contact sport. It was never a penalty but I'm not surprised it was given as we have plenty of decisions given against us so far this season. It was definitely not a clear and obvious error.

Mark: Ridiculous award of a pen!
