You drive to the game, have a beef burger, hand over your ticket, watch the match and give the third kit you bought a rare outing.

But with the COP26 climate summit under way, sports fans are being urged to reconsider the way they support their teams.

Glasgow is hosting the summit in a gathering of world leaders seen as crucial if climate change is to be brought under control.

The resolutions from the summit could affect all areas of life, including sport.

So how can sports fans help reduce their carbon footprint and play their part in saving the planet?

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira, speaking to MOTD: "We didn't play as well as we wanted but we were patient. We showed we are getting this maturity to perform week after week.

"Wolves are well organised and we knew it would be difficult to find space. My team is still improving. We have made a step forward.

"Today VAR went in our favour. I knew the foundations of this club would allow me to work well. This is a club that wants to improve and do better every year. The fans are the reason we are doing well at home. It's a special place."

On Conor Gallagher: "When you look at him play he is enjoying himself on the field. He is surrounded by players who make him feel he is at home. We knew he would be an important player for us because of the energy he brings."

Wolves

Wolves boss Bruno Lage, speaking to MOTD: " We didn't play the way we should. We need to play better. I think the most important thing is to look at our game. It's a hard place to come but during the 90 minutes I was disappointed with the performance.

"It's a moment to learn. We played against strong team. We are playing well but that is not enough. We have to fight for the team. They were better than us with the ball."

Easy half for Brighton, Newcastle need a pick-me-up at the break.
