It was a really well-worked goal with Matt Ritchie overlapping on the left. His cross was headed back to Isaac Hayden who hooked it into the net.

The Geordie fans to my right are celebrating wildly.

Did not see that coming! Newcastle equalise with their first shot on target in the 65th minute.

Allan Saint-Maximin works some room down the left and finds the run of Matt Ritchie, who hangs a cross to the back post.

Ciaran Clark wins the header above to Brighton defenders and it drops for Isaac Hayden to sweep in from 10 yards out.

Eddie Howe has a huge smile on his face, he enjoyed that one.

The statisticians haven't marked down Matt Ritchie's shot a few minutes ago as being on target.

So Newcastle are still at zero on that count.

Surely they were better under Steve Bruce? This has been woeful so far.

Brighton should be home and done by now.

Marc Cucurella is full of running and he feeds Leandro Trossard.

The Belgians shows good skill, pulling the ball back for Adam Lallana to side foot a disappointing shot wide.

Is Leandro Trossard good enough for a top four team?

The Belgium international is a really tidy player, like him a lot. He almost gets a second but curls wide from outside the area.

We have to accept that we're gone. The damage of the Ashley and Bruce era will take a long time to fix, not just one transfer window.
