Nabs: Eddie Howe deserves this opportunity with Newcastle. Now he will have some money to play with, let's see what he can really do.
Brighton 1-0 Newcastle
Brighton are comfortable at the moment, Newcastle are not offering much threat.
The Magpies are in big trouble, you can have all the money in the world but what can you do with it if no-one wants to join in January?

Barry: The reason it shouldn't have been given is that Trossard could have put his foot down. His brain takes a few milliseconds to catch up to realise he's been touched and down he goes - its not a natural movement.

Graham Potter's side nearly double their lead as Joel Veltman plays in a dangerous ball, Tariq Lamptey slides in in front of goal but the ball grazes his studs.
Think Gazza against Germany at Euro 96.

Marc: Trossard goes down so easily, and you could argue that he’s bought that by not staying on his feet but why is Clark diving in. Just stand him up still.

Newcastle, the richest club in the world, are currently bottom of the table.

Adrenali: Leandro Trossard gets kicked in the shin and people want to talk about "going down easily". What does that even mean? Its a foul. Thank god for VAR its a definite pen.

Graeme Jones, who looks very much like Billy Mitchell from Eastenders, stands on the touchline with his hands on his hips and shaking his head.
It hasn't started well for them.
Leandro Trossard
Coolly done from Leandro Trossard.
The Belgium international dusts himself off after being tripped and sends the penalty straight down the middle.
Nice.

The appeals are very vehement from Brighton point of view.
There was a delayed reaction from Leandro Trossard, but he genuinely thought he was going to survive the trip and have a go on goal.
He doesn't want to feel as though he hasn't gotten a penalty just because he hasn't gone down.
If you see it in slow-motion, it's a penalty all day long.
Brighton 0-0 Newcastle
The officials don't help themselves, they really don't.
That could have been given on first viewing but we had to go through this whole charade of VAR checking it then the referee re-checking it.
Brighton 0-0 Newcastle
How much time does VAR need to look at it?
Referee David Coote has been advised to have a look on the pitchside monitor.
He's made a clear and obvious mistake here, this will be given.
Brighton 0-0 Newcastle
The replay shows a clear kick from Ciaran Clark onto Leandro Trossard's leg.
How has the referee not given it??
Brighton 0-0 Newcastle
Leandro Trossard looks like he is caught by Ciaran Clark but referee David Coote waves play on.
He was looking straight at it yet didn't point to the spot.
It will get checked.

David: The challenge for Newcastle’s next manager is that the majority of the players on the books are not good enough to play consistently at the top level. And good luck recruiting half a team in January if the Magpies are still in the bottom three.

I think Eddie Howe will be quite impressed with what he's seen so far.
It's been a bright, front-foot start from the visitors, which is more than we've been able to see in recent weeks.

Eddie Howe the right man when in a relegation scrap?

Eddie Howe is going to be an excellent appointment for our club. Positive, pressure heavy football is exactly what we love up here.

Not what you need when under pressure.
Newcastle skipper Jamaal Lascelles is into the book for a hefty challenge on Leandro Trossard on the halfway line.
Not sure what he is complaining about.
