"Anyone who comes here knows they’ve been in a battle. Second half we were more aggressive with our passing and eventually, that led to the winning goal.

    FT: Faroe Islands 0-1 Scotland

On the topic of Scotland keeper Craig Gordon, the Hearts man as been talking to the media post-match.

"We knew it was going to be difficult and a tight game," he says. "It's a massive three points at this stage.

"We watched the games they’ve had here, they created well against Austria, they’re not a bad team and you have to give them the respect they deserve.

"We keep fighting until the end. It’s three-point nonetheless, right at a vital stage in the group. We’ve went on a great winning run just at the right time. Moldova won’t make it easy either."

Craig Gordon is a big part of why Hearts are at the top end of the Scottish Premiership, he is just evergreen. He's clearly looking after himself at the latter stages of his career as he still looks fresh, he is moving well - never stiff or sluggish.

    FT: Faroe Islands 0-1 Scotland

Scotland striker Lyndon Dykes, talking to Sky Sports: "It wasn't our best game but we got there in the end and I’m happy to get the goal.

"It feels good to get a win for the fans who were here tonight as well. I was confident it was a goal, it hit my shoulder but VAR has been quite good to me recently.

"We knew it was going to be tough coming here, they were very well organised."

On being suspended for the trip to Moldova: "It's really annoying to miss the game, I jumped with my arms and don't mean to catch the player. I was as nice as I could be to the referee to try not to get a yellow."

  13. How do the play-offs work?published at 22:13 British Summer Time 12 October 2021

    FT: Faroe Islands 0-1 Scotland

Now that madness is over, let's have a look at how the play-offs work.

We're not there yet, but one more win against either Moldova or Denmark will ensure second spot for Scotland. If they manage that, they will be joined by the nine other second-placed nations - the best six will be seeded.

Two Nations League section winners, who finished third or below in World Cup qualifying, complete the line-up.

The 12 teams are then split into three play-off paths for one-off semi-finals and a final in March next year. The three path winners qualify for the showpiece in Qatar.

    Simple, eh?

I don't think the surface helped the boys but it's no excuse. It is a huge three points. Yes, they put us through the wringer but one more win and we're in the play-offs.

  16. 'We had to dig deep' - Robertsonpublished at 22:04 British Summer Time 12 October 2021

    FT: Faroe Islands 0-1 Scotland

Scotland captain Andy Robertson, talking to Sky Sports: "First half, we were poor. They were winning all the second balls and they took confidence from that.

"People expect you to get easy points from a place like this but we knew it would be tough. It took Denmark 85 minutes to score here.

    Andy RobertsonImage source, SNS

"They were physical and strong, it's an Astroturf that we're not used to and maybe there was some kind of hangover after all of the emotion from Saturday.

"We had to dig deep. Six points was crucial this week and now we are close."
