When the ball came in, the striker opted for a pass instead of a shot. Scotland just need to guard their area at the start of the game as they've not done that recently.

Oh dear, Scotland get away with one.

The Scots switch off at a long ball and the Faroes are in behind. The ball breaks for Hendriksson but he shanks a golden opportunity before a flag is raised.

    Faroe Islands 0-0 Scotland

Billy Gilmour finds Lyndon Dykes over the top but the striker can't get the ball out his feet to get a shot away and has his pass across goal defended well.

The Scots then win a corner which is punched away by the home keeper, but Ryan Christie follows it up with a great ball that evades everyone in the box.

    Encouraging start for Scotland.

I wonder who will gravitate towards the left of midfield. McTominay has played there, but I didn't think he looked comfortable - that's why McGregor gives Scotland that balance. He goes under the radar.

    Faroe Islands v Scotland (19:45)

Scotland boss Steve Clarke talks Sky Sports through the changes to his line-up.

"Ryan Christie comes in up front with Che Adams injured," he says. "Grant Hanley has been great for me and we need his presence at the back.

"Hopefully we’ll dominate possession and Ryan Fraser's delivery from the right can cause them problems.

"We have the utmost respect for Faroe Islands, the way they play. It might be a case of being patient. You never know when goals are going to come.

"We didn’t expect to lose an early goal at the weekend but the important thing for us is to react to however the game goes.

"The players are aware, they know they’ve worked hard to put themselves in this position and they want to maintain that."

What Steve Clarke has done, that many great managers didn't, was getting us over the line and qualified for a major tournament. This squad find a way of winning games, as Clarke says himself, and that is a real talent of this squad.

Speaking of that grim draw back in 2002, we have secured some archive footage if you fancy taking a trip down memory lane.

Maybe this should be the last time we mention that game. The thought of a repeat is unbearable to say the least.
