That ball whipped in, so many bodies in the box so the keeper can't come.

It was such an easy finish.

What a start on her first start for the Netherlands.

    Damaris Egurrola

    This one will count!

It's so easy for the Netherlands as a corner is met by Damaris Egurrola, who's looping header beats Ines Pereira and finds the far corner.

Cue 'Freed From Desire' by Gala.

  3. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 5 mins

    Netherlands 0-0 Portugal

And now Portugal see a goal ruled out.

Ana Borges pokes in Jessica Silva's low cross at the near post but the latter had gone too early to collect a forward pass. Offside.

    Portugal looking sharp though.

It's far from a sell out here at Leigh Sports Village but there's a decent little atmosphere. We have a drummer too.

For a second, Portugal look like they're going to give some of these fans something to really cheer as they find Tatiana Pinto in space in the box. Her effort is saved and the flag goes up, which is why the Dutch defence switched off.

And then Portugal have a pop from range. Tatiana Pinto unleashes an effort but she too is off target.

Keeping the keepers on their toes early on.

The Dutch are straight into their stride. We have a shot inside a minute but it drifts wide. Danielle van de Donk with it.

A weakened Dutch side against an upbeat Portugal. It's a big game in the group, an intriguing one, and it is under way.

The pressure was not that high on the Netherlands in the first game because everyone expected Sweden to win.

But the pressure is on tonight. I expect a lot from them.

Hundreds of Dutch fans brought traffic to a standstill when they marched from Leigh town centre to the ground earlier.

They are seated on the far side of the ground where the sun is shining in their direction. Dozens of Portugal flags have been placed in the seats where their fans are gathered.

A new mural in honour of Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks formed the backdrop to the fan zone where hundreds of Dutch and Portuguese fans mingled before making the short walk to Leigh Sports Village.

Shelley was born in Leigh and helped form the Buzzcocks whose most famous song was 'Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've).

It's been a week since England kicked off Euro 2022 in front of 68,871 fans at Old Trafford.

What a festival we've witnessed so far. We've had goals - lots of them - city centre takeovers and carnival atmospheres across the nine stadiums that have hosted matches.

Attendance records for the tournament are being shattered, but there have also been complaints of "sold-out" stadiums not actually being full at kick-off.

So we want to hear from you on your experiences of a tournament that's capturing new supporters for women's football across the length and breadth of the country.

These Portugal fans have not had far to travel - Serafim and Benarzy and their children Matias and Miriam live in Leigh.

"I've lived in Leigh for five years and I have never seen anything like this," said Benarzy.

Mark Parsons has made an uncertain start for the Netherlands, with patchy results while he combined his job as national team coach with his position at NWSL side Portland Thorns, which he left at the end of the 2021 season.

He once missed his flight, so he arrived too late for the Dutch training camp - even former manager Sarina Wiegman criticised him and the Dutch FA over this. As a result, along with the results and the team's performances on the field, many people doubt him.

However, Parsons has been very successful in his career and this national team likes his dedication, hard work and coaching skills. To me he seems to be a very intelligent, tactically strong, caring and dedicated man. But in football only your results count.

As the 2017 champions, the expectations are very high - although everybody knows that women's football has developed a lot all over Europe.

Countries like Spain, England and France have become much stronger and are probably stronger than the Netherlands right now. Ever since Englishman Mark Parsons took over, the results have been up and down. However, because of injuries and Covid he has not had the chance to play with his strongest 11 in all those months.

The quarter-finals or semi-finals seem more realistic to me than the final or winning the Euros again, but with stars like Lieke Martens and Vivianne Miedema, you never know...

  19. Who is the manager?published at 19:46 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Netherlands v Portugal (20:00 BST)

    Mariana Cabral
    Sporting Lisbon coach

Francisco Neto is a very talented coach. He knows women's football in Portugal inside out, he knows his players very well and he's very experienced.

He likes to have a really strong core of players and doesn't change that strong base much.

Portugal are a team that have very good defensive organisation, are really focused on restricting their opponents' scoring chances and then, whenever they can, try to hurt them.

They try to have as many players as they can in the midfield, because the Portuguese players are technically very gifted, but sometimes lack a bit of physical intensity.

Don't worry, it's not what it seems.

The Dutch mascot is not about to be arrested in the fan park. Now that would be a story!

These police officers had just posed for photographs with the giant orange fluffy thing.

There's been a carnival atmosphere in town all afternoon. The all-day sunshine has definitely helped.
