Wullaert is Belgium's best player so far in this game. She's coming deeper and deeper to pick up the ball and they do need two or three Wullaerts in this team to make them effective in all thirds of the pitch.

Tessa Wullaert is looking very dangerous every time she receives the ball, but she runs out of space as she charges towards the Italy box and is robbed of possession. She's trying as much as anyone to create something.

Wendie Renard is so classy on the ball but you can see how commanding she is - she's directing the players around her and telling them what to do.

Barbara Bonansea ripples the side-netting with a shot on the stretch after Tine De Caigny had shot wide at the other end. Still no way through for either side, but Italy are becoming a little more adventurous as the half wears on.

After 29 minutes, we've stopped for a cooling break in the 35-degree Manchester heat.

France win a corner but this time even the towering Wendie Renard can't get her head on it.

The Lyon defender seems to win every aerial challenge.

That was a much needed drinks break with the temperature still over 30C here. It is hard enough typing in this heat and mugginess, so can't imagine what it must be like down on the pitch.

The Iceland fans are still having a great time over in that far corner, despite the scoreline.

A lone trumpeter sitting where the Belgium fans are gathered has united the whole stadium by playing Sweet Caroline as the sun goes down behind Etihad Stadium in the distance.

Good vibes at the Academy Stadium. Lots of families with young children have come out for this and they are lapping it up.

As it stands, a goal for either of these sides puts them second in the table and on course for a place in the quarter-finals.

There's a long way to go, but what a boost it would be for whoever can seize it in what is, so far, a fairly nervy contest.

It's hot out so the players come to the side of the pitch for some H20 and something that might give them wings.

Once France get the ball in the final third, they work it so quickly.

This time Marion Torrent plays a delightful throughball to goalscorer Melvine Malard, bur she skies her shot way over from the angle.

Sandy Baltimore is the least French sounding name ever.

We've already seen in the Euros that set pieces are so important to all teams. I think nearly a third of goals are scored from set-pieces in tournament football. We have already seen important goals in the group stages.

Another brilliant clearance from Glodís Perla Viggosdottir.

France are rapid breaking forward and Sandy Baltimore meets Melvine Malard's cross in the six yard box but the Iceland defender is positioned in the perfect place to clear off the line.

Excellent reading of the game there.

Now Italy do get an attack going, and Manuela Giugliano is not a million miles away.

The ball is worked wide to Valentina Bergamaschi, whose initial cross is headed back into the path of Giugliano. It's a neat turn to shift the ball on to her right foot, and but the strike is wide of the target.

I've been impressed with how Iceland have settled - conceding so early is so difficult because your game plan goes out of the window but they've managed to settle themselves down.

Efficient defending from Elena Linari, who steals possession to bring a flowing Belgium move to an abrupt end. Italy are struggling to keep hold of it, though, and a hopeful ball over the top sees the ball come straight back at them.
