Germany goalscorer Alex Popp: "We are very happy. It was a very intense game. Austria was very hard to play against. I'm happy to finish my fourth goal and happy and proud of the team.

"I had a very hard time last year [with injury]. It's my first European Championship and I'm very thankful to be here. I think that's the point. I'm free, I feel good and I can help my team."

Austria have lost all three of their matches against Germany.

The only team they have a worse 100% losing record against is England (8/8).

Germany are the first team in Women’s European Championship history to keep a clean sheet in their first four games.

I thought Austria came out of the blocks firing after half-time and had two chances in pretty quick successions. They failed to capitalise on those opportunities when it mattered the most.

Germany have reached the semi-finals of the Women’s European Championship for the sixth time out of the last seven editions under the current format (1997 onwards).

They have won the tournament in each of the previous five instances.

I think what we've got to look at is that everybody thought England were going to bypass Spain, Germany were going to blow Austria away.

We've now seen how competitive European football is and I don't think Sweden will be going into tomorrow's game against Belgium complacent.

Popp got the result in terms of a bit of luck on her side and the pressing that she's done all night. She's scored four in four now. It's a phenomenal achievement and she's so key for this team. To think think is her first Euros and she's missed so many, this is a great story.

Here was the German goal which sealed their place in the last four.

Germany’s Alexandra Popp became only the second player in Women’s European Championship history to score in four consecutive matches, after compatriot Heidi Mohr, who did so between 1989 and 1993. Popp is the first player to do so at a single edition.

This is a game of fine margins. It is a knockout phrase and every single moment matters. You've got to make more good decisions than bad ones.

That mistake was costly for Austria.

It just reminded me of France and the game you play when you play a big team. You have a lot of opportunities but at the end you're like 'I missed this one, I missed that one'.

It's just the little detail of focus. It's not like they got a Germany crushing them, they just made little mistakes and lacked focus.

The woodwork was hit five times in this match (three times by Austria, twice by Germany), the most on record in a Women’s European Championship match (since Opta started recording this data in 2013).

I can just feel Austria's pain right now and they really put in such a great effort. They created chances, they hit the woodwork and tested this German side.

But at the end of the day, Germany are clinical and ruthless. They will capitalise and pounce on every mistake that you make.

Austria had their chances in this game and they'll feel it wasn't their night. They didn't have the cutting edge but their luck could've been different.

They can walk away from this very proud of what they did and they have given a very good German team a really good run for their money.

Austria hit the woodwork three times but it would be hard to argue Germany didn't deserve to win that.

Germany face France or the Netherlands in next Wednesday's semi-final in Milton Keynes.

Germany are into the Euro 2022 semi-finals. Deserved although you wouldn't say they laid down a marker.

Germany bring on two subs who probably won't get a touch.
