Brentford emerge from the tunnel first, with Hard-Fi's 'Hard to Beat' booming out.

    Hmmm.

The home crowd - and the 00s indie band, who are Bees fans - will be hoping it rings true.

Watford haven't played particularly well but they have been clinical in that moment and are getting it done.

The goal was shocking defending from Brentford but when you're in the form you're in like Emmanuel Dennis and you get the opportunity, you take it.

A win by a single goal tonight would not be enough to move Watford up from 17th in the table. But sure they wouldn't mind too much.

More importantly it would open up a six-point gap on the bottom three before tomorrow's games.

Not been a lot in that half. Brentford started on the front foot, but the confidence was quickly sapped out of them by the Watford goal.

The stats show the Bees enjoyed most of the possession and saw a few of their six shots stopped by Watford keeper Daniel Bachmann.

In contrast, Watford have had one shot on target and that has proved the difference.

Watford are not slow at getting crosses in. They are getting deliveries in really early so it's hard for the defenders as they don't have time to get their feet right. It's been good from Josh King and Emmanuel Dennis.

Good call. Nothing worth hanging around for in the added extra minute.

Few boos from the home fans as they trail at the break.

Turns out there is just the one minute of added time. Probably worth nipping downstairs to join the queue for the pies.

Bit of encouragement for Brentford there. Can that spur them on to grab an equaliser before the break?

    Not anticipating much stoppage time.

Chance! Charlie Goode takes advantage of some Watford mis-communication as Daniel Bachmann doesn't know - and by association neither do the defenders - if he is coming or going for the corner.

Goode plants it goalwards from close range but Bachman redeems himself with a decisive reflex save.

I think Bryan Mbeumo wanted it on his left foot but when he does that, it gives the defenders a chance to get back. You have to have the confidence to take it on. You haven't got the time in the Premier League to get it on your preferred foot.

It's a worldie of a ball from Christian Norgaard!

Brentford have offered much less threat in the past 15/20 minutes - but here's a chance.

Christian Norgaard shows superb technique, pinging a cushioned half volley up to Bryan Mbeumo. He pushes the ball on towards Yoane Wissa, only for Kiko Femenia to brilliantly race across on the cover .

    Brentford corner...

Watford may have had less than 40% of the possession but they have been clinical on the main stat - one shot, one goal.

Panic over. All good it seems with Emmanuel Dennis, who appeared to be caught when he challenged Rico Henry for that high ball.

More worryingly for Claudio Ranieri and Watford fans is that Dennis has gone down after that incident and needs treatment...

This is where he much more useful. Emmanuel Dennis is picked out at the far post by Moussa Sissoko's delightful sprayed pass from the left flank, leaping north to try and steer in his second header of the evening.

He can't get enough contact though and the balls skims off his brow for a goal-kick.

Brentford has lost some of that early vigour, looking more ponderous as they cautiously look for a way back into the match.

Emmanuel Dennis potentially gives them a hand by bodychecking a home player about 40 yards from the Watford goal.

That was more suited to a game involving Brentford's co-tenants London Irish.

Less than five million quid for Dennis. Apparently.

    It's a deal, it's a steal.

Emmanuel Dennis nets his seventh Premier League goal of the season. Only Mohamed Salah (13 goals, 9 assists) has been directly involved in as many Premier League goals as Emmanuel Dennis (7 goals, 5 assists) this season.

The Hornets are buzzing now (sorry). A cross from the left is hacked clear before Joshua King and Emmanuel Dennis quickly chase down the Brentford keeper Alvaro Fernandez and Charlie Goode.

Dennis gives away a free-kick in the end, but the pressing shows their appetite.

If you're zonal marking and in that middle zone, you have to go and attack the ball and win it.

All the pace and all the whip was on the cross so Emmanuel Dennis just needed to make contact.
