    Brentford 0-1 Watford

This wasn't the instant response the hosts hoped. The ironic cheers from the away end tells us that. Bryan Mbeumo - unlucky not to put the Bees ahead before the Watford goal - skies one. Watch out Row Z.

Stunned silence among the Brentford ranks. Thomas Frank's gum is being chewed a little quicker.

What response can his team show?

Wow. Shocking defending from Brentford is my initial thought. It looked like nobody picked him up! He doesn't even have to move. He's completely unopposed and gets a free header. I think it might have even come off his shoulder. They don't deserve it, Watford, but they are clinical in that one moment.

    Emmanuel Dennis

Well, well, well. You've got to say that has come against the run of play.

It's that man Emmanuel Dennis. Fast becoming a hero for Watford and Fantasy Football fans across the land.

No-one picks him up, a free run and a simple header. Easy.

Thomas Frank will be running through that one on the tactics board at half-time.

Where has this come from? Watford hit the post through Joshua King. And now it's a corner...

Daniel Bachmann pulls out a worldie save! It's a brilliant counter-attack from Brentford but that's another brilliant save.

Mbeumo does not mind a chase, I tell you that. So quick. He has the confidence to run at the Watford defence, then curls a lovely effort towards the top corner which needs Daniel Bachmann to push clear. What a save!

    Brentford 0-0 Watford

Jeremy Ngakia's teases in a cross and Brentford skipper Pontus Janssen has to be well-placed to flick out for a corner. That comes to nothing and then Brentford set Bryan Mbeumo off on the chase..

Groans from the home fans as Yoane Wissa's final ball from a good position on the left lets him down.

And that allows Watford to break...

It's just that final weight of pass in the final third. That's what I'm talking about - relax. You have to be ice cool in that final third. Even when the play is fast, you have to compose yourself. Brentford need a bit more of that.

    Brentford 0-0 Watford

Brentford have enjoyed more 60% of the possession, but they've not managed any more efforts on goal since the one which Daniel Bachmann tipped over from Shandon Baptiste.

Mathias Jensen tries to slide a ball through to Yoane Wissa but it has too much beef and goes out for a goal-kick.

Despite their team being on the back foot, the Watford fans are enjoying themselves.

"We forgot that you were here," they chant to the home support.

Juraj Kucka looks the sort of defender who would happily head away bricks if he had to.

If he wasn't a footballer he'd be a nightclub bouncer.

The Watford man puts his body in the way of a Brentford shot like it was a underhit pass.

What I want to see from Brentford is that when they get up there, they really need to commit. They look a little hesitant.

Still, it's the home side who are dictating the game. Daniel Bachmann has been the busiest Watford player so far, gathering another cross from the left.

    Brentford 0-0 Watford

The Bees are buzzing again. Rico Henry - touted for England recognition by his boss Thomas Frank earlier this week - puts in a cross which has more whip than a 99 flake.

It's awkward for the Watford keeper, but Daniel Bachmann gathers smoothly.

    Brentford 0-0 Watford

Watford try to build up a spell of possession as Kiko Femenia scampers down the right flank, but he's dispossessed and Brentford quickly start another attack.

This time the long ball is overcooked and drifts out for a throw.

Claudio Ranieri looks pensive on the touchline.

The Brentford wing-backs are pushing Joshua King back so when it's released up to Emmanuel Dennis there's nobody there supporting him. It's quite easy for Brentford to retain possession. They have definitely started the brighter of the two sides.

Charlie Goode dries the ball with a handily-placed towel and the ball into the box. He finds the forehead of Pontus Jansson, but the Bees skipper can't plant his effort on target.

    All Brentford, so far.

    Brentford 0-0 Watford

Another quick ball forward from the Brentford backline tries to catch Watford out.

Looks to be a clear tactic, this, to test the Hornets' defensive vulnerability.

Bryan Mbuemo's movement is causing all sorts of bother. He's helped win a long throw next to the corner flag...
