Madness. Hanley if fine to carry on for now but he's being made to run round to the other side of the pitch to come back on.

    Norwich 0-0 Man Utd

That was a lovely attempt by Alex Telles but now play has been stopped to allow Grant Hanley to receive treatment after landing on his left shoulder while challenging Cristiano Ronaldo.

Noodles: United don't look any better under Ralf in my opinion. De Gea has been playing well making them look better and that's pretty much the only real difference between now and when Ole was in charge.

Marcus Rashford wins a free-kick just outside the box after he is bundled over by Grant Hanley. A six-man wall is formed and Alex Telles strikes the bar.

Was it tipped onto the woodwork by Tim Krul?

    United have a corner.

Is it me or is everyone else impressed by Rangnick's quiet professionalism, transparency, and utter pragmatism. We all loved Ole but the 'this is Manchester United' answer to everything wore a little thin. Have Utd finally got someone in the club who is not a gifted amateur but a world class football person?

    Mike from Surrey.

100% home wins so far this weekend. Norwich for the win?

A quiet opening 10 minutes by United. They are yet to register their first attempt.

  7. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Man Utd

Norwich don't look like a team anchored at the bottom of the table. They've shown plenty of pace and energy, and Teemu Pukki is away down the wing. He sends it into the box but Scott McTominay is able to clear.

  8. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Man Utd

Loads of free-kicks in the opening exchanges but very little action in either penalty area. Another set-piece as Joshua Sargent is on the receiving end of a clumsy challenge by Diogo Dalot.

  9. 'I cannot share what happens in the dressing room'published at 17:35 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2021

    FT: Arsenal 3-0 Southampton

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to MOTD: "I’m very pleased. After a difficult period, we had two defeats where I don’t think we deserved to lose the games but we did.

"We started the game a little bit nervy, you could tell that we were carrying that feeling still, but we finished strong."

On the first goal: "It was [a ‘piece of art’] – that’s our identity, the way we want to play, it’s not possible to score all the goals like that. But that’s the direction we want to take.

"I am very happy. It’s a contribution from the whole game, what is required in every moment and then the execution and that’s what we’ve been lacking a little bit, because the intention is there, it’s just doing it more consistently.

"You could see that the team wanted to keep attacking, hit the post twice, a goal disallowed."

On Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: "He had a disciplinary breach, that applies to everybody. That's a non-negotiable and when that happens he’s out of the team."

"Whatever happens in the dressing room, I cannot share. I am sorry. I’m telling you the reason, I cannot lie, it was that, this is where I stand. From my side, I will never [say what the breach was.]"

Nice by Kenny McLean who wins a challenge and tries to set up Dimitrios Giannoulis.

Giannoulis then goes down on the edge of the United box but the referee is not interested in awarding a free-kick.

  11. 'We deserved a draw'published at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2021

    FT: Chelsea 3-2 Leeds

    Leeds United

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa to MOTD: "It was a game we deserved to draw and we lost it when it was finishing. That increases the disappointment."

On penalties: "What the the referee decided was fine."

"It is very difficult to make a team like Chelsea play worse. It is also very difficult to attack a team like this. In a way we managed to achieve both things. We could attack and we managed to make them not play as well as they can do.

"[Gelhardt] is a player whose great virtue is his finishing and I'm happy that in such few minutes he was able to impact the game."

On frustrations at the end: "It was a minor episode without importance. Of course we always prefer that not to happen, but I don't assign any gravity to it. The emotional weight of the game was very big, it was a beautiful game full of emotions. Sometime when that happens the passion goes overboard. I thought it was all within the limits that are tolerable."

  12. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Man Utd

A scrappy opening as Scott McTominay wins possession in the centre-circle but United's attack comes to a quick end before Norwich give the ball away.

  13. 'Unnecessary like tooth pain!'published at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2021

    FT: Liverpool 1-0 Aston Villa

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to MOTD: "The first 75 minutes was incredible football. It's difficult. The opponent defended compact. It looked really good, we played in the spaces we wanted to play but we did not finish the situations which is tricky.

"We came out in the second half and knew we had to keep going - and improve in moments. We were not calm enough in the last pass. We kept going. We scored with the penalty then the relief was obviously too big and it was an unnecessary open game. Like tooth pain! Nobody needs that. There are areas to improve even when we win football games, which is good.

"I really thought before the game, with Alisson in his shorts and top, that is not a lot for this game today. Yes those moments were there, I don't want Alisson to be busy in a game to be honest. It is something we will talk about and hopefully it does not become a pattern, or whatever."

On Mo Salah: "Absolutely insane. We all think penalty. Everybody wishes in the moment to take the penalty but he finishes it off. The whole game was not the easiest but the triangles we had on the right and left wing was really outstanding. In the end we did not have enough bodies in the box in the first half."

On Steven Gerrard: "The good thing is I have no problem with this sort of thing. I will not be here forever so I would love it to be Stevie! But no I did not feel under pressure today."

  14. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    Norwich 0-0 Man Utd

United can go level on points with fourth-placed West Ham.

Norwich can go level with 17th-placed Watford.

The fifth and final Premier League game of the day is under way.

  15. 'Overall we've got to be happy'published at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2021

    FT: Liverpool 1-0 Aston Villa

    Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson: "It was difficult. The way we responded after scoring was disappointing. I thought we sat back a bit too much.

"After going in front it’s important to win the ball back and not let balls come into the box. We could have scored one or two more goals with the chances we created, but overall we’ve got to be happy with the performance and the result.

"The games are coming thick and fast. Thankfully it’s the same for everyone in this period. Hopefully we keep it going with good performances and results."

The teams are in the tunnel. It's very crowded in there and United are the first to emerge. They're being given a terrific reception from their travelling fans as they make their way onto the pitch.

  17. 'Norwich will find this tough'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2021

Norwich v Man Utd (17:30 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Norwich got taken apart by Tottenham last time out, ending Dean Smith's unbeaten start as manager, and also slipped to the bottom of the table because Newcastle beat Burnley.

I reckon the Canaries will find this game tough going too, although we are still waiting to properly find out what Manchester United will look like under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

This is only Rangnick's second league game in charge, and his first on the road. It will interesting to see if United's running stats match their numbers against Palace, which were much higher than they had been all season, but they should see off Norwich comfortably enough anyway.

    Lawro's prediction: 0-2

  18. 'We must do better, definitely'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2021

    FT: Arsenal 3-0 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl to MOTD: "When you concede with the first chance, an easy one, the momentum of the game changes quickly. Then the second goal soon after changed the game. After a good start we shouldn't concede that easily.

"You see the quality they have. They always find the free player in the box they have. The signs before the game haven't been the best with all the injuries we had and suspensions. We had to change a few things. The Premier League shows all the weaknesses you have, with the injuries you could see it.

"In the end, we did not have a chance to take something today. Like always, the output was not enough. But we know this. The only thing we can do is to keep working. The next games are coming up. We must do better, definitely."

Interim boss Ralf Rangnick says he will not try to convince midfielder Paul Pogba to stay at Manchester United if he has made up his mind to leave.

Pogba re-joined United in 2016 but the France World Cup winner is out of contract next summer and free to speak to other clubs in January.

"I wouldn't say he is not worth keeping but players need to want to stay and play for the club," adds Rangnick.

Pogba, 28, is currently injured and has not played since 2 November.

  20. 'We were lucky, we needed this'published at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2021

    FT: Chelsea 3-2 Leeds

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to Sky Sports: "It was a nice game of football. Very intense and I'm very happy with how we played.

"I think we deserved to win but of course it's lucky when you have a late goal in extra time. But coming back twice is very impressive and I'm very happy we turned things around. It was tough work but we didn't expect anything else.

"We were lucky, we needed this. We were unlucky in last two games conceding very late goals so maybe this is exactly what we needed."

On Jorginho's two penalties: "It's not so easy two score two penalties. I wasn't sure if he would take the second one. We believe in our players, it's not easy so full credit to him.

On the importance of this win: "There's no alternative to winning in this dressing room. We have two days off now as we play again on Thursday. I'm really happy for the team and the staff that we have these two days with a feeling that we have turned things around.

"There are things to improve as always but I'm very happy with the result."

On the bust-up between the two sets of players at the final whistle: "Emotions were boiling. I think it's normal. I didn't hear it was anything serious so all good."
