    Leicester 0-0 Newcastle

Oooh. A decent move from Newcastle but it comes from another mix-up at the back by Leicester.

Caglar Soyuncu's header isn't a good one and Miguel Almiron gets away in the box. He's pushed wide and smashes it into the side-netting.

But there's real concern for Jonny Evans... He has pulled up with what looks like a hamstring injury. This will be a huge blow for Leicester!

    Burnley 0-0 West Ham

Michail Antonio and a team-mate get in each other's way and Burnley try to counter. Chris Wood takes down a long ball but then his pass is cut out.

Much has been made of Eddie Howe giving Newcastle a huge boost but it has coincided with the return to fitness of Martin Dubravka, and I don't think they are unrelated. They look much more solid with him in the side.

    Burnley 0-0 West Ham

Not much in the way of action yet at Turf Moor. Burnley have a free-kick but James Tarkowski's header drifts wide. Not really a shot.

The big question is whether Leicester can keep a clean sheet today.

Burnley v West Ham (14:00 GMT)

Burnley have won four of their past seven league games against West Ham, as many as they had in the previous 22 meetings.

But the Hammers did the double in this fixture last season.

West Ham have only kept one clean sheet in 30 top-flight visits to Burnley, courtesy of a 0-0 draw in February 1928.

If Newcastle keep positive and hang in there until January, they will then have the funds to spend which will give them that bit of a boost.

The other thing is if they can keep Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson, Joelinton and Miguel Almiron fit they have a chance.

When you look at the other teams around them and in the bottom half of the league they are arguably as good as anything in the bottom 10 teams.

Eddie Howe has done a really good job so far. The same problems that were there under the previous manager are still there.

They have only won one game since Steve Bruce was sacked but I think that win against Burnley was huge for momentum.

I feel something is stirring in Newcastle at the moment. There is something you can't quite put your finger on but there is an energy awakening. The fans are very passionate and they are fully behind the team and the manager.

There is a unity on and off the pitch between the owners, the fans and the manager and I have a funny feeling they could go on and get an unexpected run of results because they are a very emotional football club.

  14. Leicester need consistency at the backpublished at 13:45 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2021

    Leicester v Newcastle (14:00 GMT)

The biggest thing for Leicester defensively is having a consistent back four.

Wes Morgan, who was a natural leader, has left the club. Jonny Evans plays one week, and is out the next and Wesley Fofana being out is a big miss. Jannik Vestergaard has come in as a new player, so when you put that all together it can lead to problems because they do not have a settled back four.

    Leicester v Newcastle (14:00 GMT)

Leicester have won eight Premier League games against Newcastle since promotion to the top flight in 2014, more than against any other side.

Newcastle have won three of their past four away league matches against the Foxes - although the fixture they failed to win was a 5-0 away defeat in September 2019.

None of the last 13 top-flight meetings have ended in a draw.

  17. 'West Ham just keep going'published at 13:40 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2021

Burnley v West Ham (14:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

West Ham just keep on going. They have now beaten Chelsea and Liverpool, and given Manchester City a proper test - they are not fourth by beating the lower sides, they are beating the teams above them as well.

The thing about the Hammers is that they believe in themselves now, and the way they play absolutely suits them. They have got some really strong players in key positions and they work extremely hard.

They have become a team who are really difficult to play against because they have got a bit of everything - physicality plus flair and ability.

Their biggest problem right now, especially coming into such a busy period, is running out of steam. They are already short of numbers defensively now Kurt Zouma and Ben Johnson have joined Angelo Ogbonna on the treatment table.

If there are any tired limbs out there in the West Ham team, it might catch up with them at Turf Moor. Burnley have only won once this season, which is why they are in the relegation zone, but they are usually hard to beat.

    Prediction: 1-1

  19. 'Leicester reset to more natural level'published at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2021

    Leicester v Newcastle (14:00 GMT)

    Luke Edwards
Daily Telegraph writer on BBC Radio 5 Live

When you exceed expectations as Leicester have done, winning the Premier League and FA Cup in an incredible period, eventually you get a realignment and reset to a more natural level and I think that is what we are seeing this season.

They did not have Europe last season and were able to compete in the Premier League. When you are a club like Ipswich, Everton, Aston Villa you aspire to be in Europe but quite often your domestic form suffers.

What I worry about long term is that Jamie Vardy is another year older and his goals have been a big part of why they have had so much success.

He cannot go on forever and there will come a time where he goes into decline because he cannot fight age.

My dad [Steve Bruce] is enjoying his break. He did 43 consecutive seasons in football, which is a long old stint and I am sure he will be missing it. But he can sit there and be quite pleased with the job he did.

Looking back, to finish 12th and 13th with Newcastle, the job remit was to keep them in the Premier League and give them that platform for the takeover to take place.

He can hold his head high knowing he did that in difficult circumstances. It was his dream job. It was what he worked all his life for.
