Brentford can't get out of their own half, Thomas Frank looks really frustrated. I know managers usually wait to half time to change something but I think there is something to be said here. I'm not talking about substitutions but just to move things around a little bit.

At the moment every time Brentford try and play little passes Brighton or all over them.

It was a great ball over the top, it looked like Leandro Trossard was trying to bring the ball down but looking at the replay that is a wonderful first touch and wonderful strike. He's just edged his foot towards the ball and dinked it around the keeper who has absolutely no chance whatsoever.

That's a really good bit of a play and it just goes to show you that you don't always have to do five or ten yard passes and have six or seven passes to break Brentford down.

Brighton won the ball back and played a quick ball over the top and what a great finish.

Brighton, chasing a first win since September, are not sitting back on this lead. They are charging forward now and have the wind firmly in their sails.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank looks deeply frustrated and deeply concerned. Relentless stuff now from the hosts.

Wonderful football from Brighton the way they play one and two touch and they have players who have a bit of skill. But Brentford had practically all 11 players in the box and that is so difficult to try and play against.

Appreciative applause from the home fans as Brighton keep up the pressure. When they do get into the box, however, they are finding themselves severely outnumbered by Brentford players.

Great work down the left by Brighton as Marc Cucurella sends Leandro Trossard away. He speeds past the Brentford fullback but his cut back just doesn't quite get through to Neal Maupay before the visitors manage to clear.

Good stuff from Brighton, though.

Looking at both of the defences there are really tall centre-halves so even when there are quality balls and crosses coming into the box everyone is in the right position and right place so it needs a special run to be beaten.

At the moment those defenders are just standing strong in the way and heading the ball away.

Now they have a shot on goal!

It's awful, though, Enock Mwepu hammering well wide from inside the box.

But while the finish was not great, the movement in the build up was decent.

Brighton's lack of a cutting edge is on show at the moment as they are yet to manage a shot on or off target yet. They did hit the crossbar, but the whistle had gone for a foul inside the box.

Play is stopped as Sergio Canos is down holding his head. The home fans boo as they think he was acting up to it after grappling his opponent.

Neal Maupay almost sneaks onto a poor back pass but fortunately for Brentford Álvaro Fernández is off his line quickly to clear.

There's a clash of heads inside the Brentford box between Neal Maupay and Ethan Pinnock and that brings to an end a spell of pressure from Brighton.

After a bit of treatment both are OK and back up on their feet.

Dan Burn heads a corner onto the crossbar but the whistle goes for a foul by Neal Maupay on Brentford goalkeeper Alvaro Fernández.

Good spell of pressure from Brighton as we pass the quarter-of-an-hour mark. There's a few empty seats at the Amex, to be expected given the kick off time on Boxing Day, but those who are here are making plenty of noise.

Brentford can press really well but I think it's a question of risk and reward - on a night like this the best thing is to play it safe. Don't try and play out from the back just play it long.

Just one shot on goal by either side so far and that was off target.
