Marcus Rashford has been directly involved in a career-best seven goals against Newcastle, scoring four and assisting three in seven Premier League games.

They all came in his past four league appearances against them, including twice in September in his first game since rejoining the Red Devils.

Eddie Howe remains confident Newcastle have what it takes to stay in the Premier League, but is under no illusions about the size of the task.

When asked if there is enough time for the Magpies to turn things around, Howe said: "Yes, absolutely there is. There are enough games, there's enough talent in the squad.

"But we're certainly aware also that time is against us and we can't waste games and opportunities - if opportunities are there we have to take them because every game that we don't win, it becomes harder and harder to achieve what we need to do."

Despite only winning one of his seven games in charge, Howe says he is loving his time on Tyneside - but wants more points.

"It was never going to be easy, it was never going to be plain sailing. I'm fully aware of what football management is like through my experiences in it, so I'm here to get my head down, work hard, work my way through any tough situations for the benefit of this football club.

"I'd want more points, for sure. We came into a very difficult situation, so as I said when I came in, we were under no illusions about the size of the task that we had.

"But overall, I have to say I have been pleased with a lot of aspects of what we've delivered, but knowing there's huge room for improvement."

French striker Anthony Martial has told Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick he wants to leave.

Rangnick said he "spoke at length" on Wednesday with the 26-year-old, who told him "it's the right time for a change".

Martial has started just two Premier League games this season, scoring once.

Despite his desire to leave Old Trafford, Rangnick confirmed the club had not yet received an offer for the forward.

It takes a little bit of time for a manager to set his stall on how he wants to play. I think Ralf Rangnick has done that in the past couple of weeks, especially with the cancellations. I think tonight you'll see a big improvement.

Ralf has set his own standards in his short time here. He's left players out like Luke Shaw, who was one of the top players. He's got his own way of playing - 4-2-2-2 which had never been seen at Manchester United.

With a break and everyone back I see you'll see a big improvement.

Newcastle have lost 21 Premier League games in 2021, a joint-league high alongside Southampton. Another loss would equal the club top-flight record in a calendar year.

Newcastle have won just one of their seven games under head coach Eddie Howe, losing the last three in a row.

They have lost all 10 Premier League matches this campaign against teams in the top half of the table, in contrast to eight games unbeaten versus clubs in the bottom half.

Bournemouth have gone top of the Championship with a 1-0 win over QPR, who had a player sent off in the 98th minute.
