  1. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 67 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

The biggest chance United have had by a gazillion miles.

Nemanja Matic pulls the ball back from the byeline and an unmarked Bruno Fernandes, 12 yards out, lifts it against the crossbar with Jose Sa beaten.

    He should have scored.

Wolves bring on Adama Traore for Francisco Trincao. An all-ex-Barcelona change.

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Now Daniel Podence curls in an equally fine cross from the right - what a player - but it's headed wide.

    It's 0-8 on corners.

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Daniel Podence whips in a lovely cross from the left and Luke Shaw heads it wide just as Raul Jimenez was ready to nod in.

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

This really is not very good from Manchester United. Jose Sa catches a couple of easy crosses.

Ourhandsaretied: The thing about Mike Dean is that he's actually very good at least 90% of the time (as he has been today). Authoritative, doesn't take any nonsense from the players. He just has the odd howler, as everyone does.

Dave: What do the United players do in training? As a suggestion for a activities, I think they should try passing to people in red shirts and perhaps, if they somehow fix that problem, how to cross a ball at head-height.

Kartik Vankat: Is Rangnick really the top coach he is touted as being? Seems he has a few good ideas, but he doesn't seem to implement them in an effective way.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 60 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Interesting. Bruno Fernandes comes on for United but it's Mason Greenwood who is replaced.

There are some boos from the United fans after they see who is coming off.

  10. Postpublished at 59 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Almost lovely from Wolves. Marcal speeds down the left and plays it across to Francisco Trincao. He steps over the ball, allowing it to run to Nelson Semedo, but the wing-back's shot is blocked by Luke Shaw. Corner.

Daniel Podence flicks the corner on but David de Gea gathers.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 57 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Luke Shaw is booked, meaning he will miss their next game with Aston Villa, after blocking Ruben Neves' run.

  12. Postpublished at 56 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Mason Greenwood's wayward shot is the only effort in this half so far for either side.

  13. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Aaron Wan-Bissaka gets down the right from Cristiano Ronaldo's flick but mis-kicks a cross straight out of play. The assistant referee reacts slowly to point the flag for a goal-kick almost like he thought there must have been a deflection.

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

If Raul Jimenez was quick or his first touch was spot-on, he could be in as he runs onto a ball over the top.

But he has to cut back and plays a through ball into nobody.

  15. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Mason Greenwood gets the ball on the right wing and tries to make something happen, but the thing he makes happen is a shot miles over the bar.

    Rob Green
Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Manchester United have gone to three at the back. Luke Shaw is left sided centre half, Varane in the middle and Jones on the right.

Cavani is floating, Greenwood is floating behind Ronaldo. If there is an admission that they were losing the first half tactically that is a good one.

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 49 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Scott McTominay finally gets a yellow card, a lot of niggly tackles today. He clatters Daniel Podence as the Wolves player was turning.

There is a lot to work on in this Manchester United team, in this game and beyond.

  19. Postpublished at 18:37 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2022

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Mason Greenwood was 11 the last time Manchester United won the Premier League.

  20. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

The second half finally begins. Will United be better? Will Wolves be as good as they were?
