Longest half-time break ever. The players are all warming up on the pitch.

  2. Who is taking control for Man Utd?published at 18:25 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2022

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

    Rob Green
Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Manchester United in fits and starts have been aggressive on the ball but they are looking around at each other too often and asking which of us is taking control? No-one is really doing it for them.

For Wolves, Neves and Moutinho have been brilliant in midfield, they have dictated and it has been a joy to watch in this half.

Stuart Mitchell: is it going too far to say Phil Jones has been United's best player that half?

Reddevil Jay: Phil Jones has been brilliant that half. The only bright spot from all of United (though Ronaldo has run his socks off), who have on the whole been pretty poor. Again the biggest issue is the inability to make a pass. Couldn't be more basic.

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Who has the best passing accuracy in the game?

    Phil Jones (96%, 24/25).

Jones is also top or joint top in the United team for duels won, interceptions, possession gained and blocks.

  5. Postpublished at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2022

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Wolves had 15 shots in the first half - the most (since at least 2003-04) a visiting team has had at Old Trafford in the opening 45 minutes of a Premier League game.

  6. Postpublished at 18:21 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2022

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Remember, Wolves have only scored 13 Premier League goals this season - in eight of their 18 (and a half) games.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:19 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2022

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

    The half-time whistle goes.

    The headlines?

Wolves have been the much, much better team and should be winning.

    Phil Jones has played well.

  8. Frustrated Bruno Lagepublished at 18:18 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2022

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

    Simon Stone

Wolves boss Bruno Lage threw his arms in the air. I don't think he can believe his side have not managed a goal with all the possession they have had around the Manchester United box.

Brilliant last-ditch tackle by Phil Jones!

  10. INJURY TIMEpublished at 45 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Excellent defending by Phil Jones to stop Nelson Semedo's low ball reaching Ruben Neves.

Wolves cut through United with ease there.

    Two minutes added on.

Dara Sheahan: How is it that a team that finished second last year can't string five passes together? And like, not just today, but basically all season. Is it really just confidence?

Jesse Mutua: Ronaldo is the weak link in the Man Utd line up. Constantly losing possession and out of position when good balls are played in.

Babyboomer: Man United's coaches need to teach their professional footballers employed on such enormous salaries that there is a difference between passing a ball and kicking ball. Their touch & weight of pass is appalling.

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Rare chance for United as Edinson Cavani, unmarked 25 yards out, hammers a rash shot well over the bar. He had all the time in the world.

  13. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Scott McTominay tries to foul Daniel Podence and then Joao Moutinho. He fails to stop either and eventually Podence finds Raul Jimenez, who has a shot blocked.

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Former Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is in the crowd having a laugh. He signed Phil Jones.

    Breaking

    Premier League

Between 27 December and 2 January, 14,250 Covid-19 tests were administered on Premier League players and club staff.

Of these, there were 94 new positive cases (0.65%).

This is the first week-by-week decrease in positive results for eight weeks.

It was nearly the biggest mistake you've seen this season! He played Jimenez in, an incredible decision by Cristiano Ronaldo. He stands and watches and is helpless but as the ball is played into Jimenez he is offside.

They live to fight another day.

  17. Probably best for Ronaldo not to do thatpublished at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2022

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Cristiano Ronaldo is lethal in the opposition box. But he was nearly lethal for his own team then.

Probably stick to scoring goals rather than defending Cristiano.

  18. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Wolves should score. Cristiano Ronaldo plays a blind header back that finds Raul Jimenez and not David de Gea.

Jimenez can't get it under control, but he does head wide moments later from a Marcal cross. Actually he was offside that time - but not the first.

  19. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

United have just ticked over 50% possession now, they've had two-thirds of it for the last 10 minutes.

    Better but still not great.

Phil Jones wins the ball off Daniel Podence and finds Mason Greenwood but he can't get a shot off.

When I said earlier I had to check what number Phil Jones was wearing it's because Nemanja Matic is dropping so deep at times it's like he's another centre-back.
