    Arsenal 2-0 Brighton

Brighton have to be really careful now. Arsenal have found another gear, but they're not out of this one yet.

Get a goal back and this game will turn on its head.

They were patient during the first half. That rise in intensity has really helped. Brighton back off and off and we know Beth Mead can score from anywhere. It was all about moving the ball quickly again.

    Floodgates = Open.

And now a fourth FA Cup goal in this competition for Beth Mead.

Arsenal easily carve through the Brighton defence as Mead goes clear on the left.

She takes a touch before passing the ball across goal into the corner.

    Game over?

    Arsenal 1-0 Brighton

Beth Mead's assist has taken her tally up to 14 this season from 16 games in all competitions.

She's also scored nine goals in that time.

She's in hot form right now.

Instant change for Brighton as Finland international Emma Koivisto comes on for Kayleigh Green.

You can see the difference as we have been talking about. Crisp, clean passes down this side and they've got some joy. They upped the intensity. They knew if they were going to beat this Brighton defence it has to be one and two touch. We know what Beth Mead is all about. She is happy to take players on. And then the quick feet of Kim Little. She had to improvise but she is good at doing that.

    It had been coming...

Excellent again from Beth Mead who twists and turns in the box before squaring it to skipper Kim Little who pokes the ball home.

    Just what the Doctor ordered.

Another cross and now a free header but Caitlin Foord can only nod it straight to Megan Walsh.

Twelve shots so far from Arsenal, but still no goals.

    Arsenal 0-0 Brighton

We start this half as we finished the last, with Arsenal on top.

Leah Williamson overlaps and sends in a good low cross which is only just hacked clear.

Beth Mead then fires high and wide from range.

Arsenal beat Brighton 2-0 at home and 5-0 away in the league last season.

The Seagulls did taste victory in the last cup tie between these two though. Winning on penalties after a 0-0 draw in a League Cup group game back in 2019.

Is history set to repeat itself?

Long direct balls into the box is what the Brighton defenders love. Arsenal need to get the ball on the floor and move it quicker. There is just no time in the box.

The Brighton midfield has been good. Emily Simpkins has been a standout player, tracking runs and making tackles at the top of the box. Really impressive. Hope Powell will be the happier of the two managers.

I think [Brighton] are doing really well. You just need to look at the full-backs, who are doing unbelievably well against Mead and Parris. It is a real battle on both sides. They are soaking up the pressure. They need a bit more going forward and maybe a bit more on set-pieces.

Nikita Parris must've thought she'd opened the scoring for the Gunners when her header beat Megan Walsh.

    Victoria Williams had other ideas.

It was always the case that Brighton would try and be as solid as possible and try to get goals on the break. It is up to Arsenal to break them down. It is difficult to play against a block like that. Arsenal have had some joy and they must think some joy will come second half.

An important stop from Brighton keeper Megan Walsh who leaps to punch away a Nikita Parris cross with Beth Mead lurking.

No touch there and that's probably 1-0.
