    Arsenal 0-0 Brighton

    Megs!

Nikita Parris has just embarrassed Inessa Kaagman with a slick piece of skill.

Nothing comes of the move, but I think the Dutch midfielder's pride has taken a knock.

The thing abut this Arsenal system is that it allows Nobbs to go up and beyond Ford in that number nine position. Brighton are just making a few mistakes. It is alright playing this compact system but there needs to be an outlet.

    Arsenal 0-0 Brighton

And now Nobbs has her second shot of the game, this one is easily gathered by Brighton keeper Megan Walsh.

    Arsenal's pressure is relentless.

  4. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Brighton

Now Arsenal are really starting to make moves going forward.

Nikita Paris is the latest to break free out wide. Her first-time cross is headed clear.

    Arsenal 0-0 Brighton

Plenty are packed into Meadow Park, the Gunners are roared on every time they push forward.

It also looks very, very cold. I think one fan has doubled up and is wearing two woolly hats.

  6. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Brighton

The in-form Beth Mead gets on the ball and drives froward before cutting a pass back.

Plenty of red shirts are waiting in the box but a Brighton defender gets a toe to the ball and pokes it clear.

All Arsenal, as we expected so far.

  7. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Brighton

First shot of the game as Arsenal veteran midfielder Jordan Nobbs fires one well over from range.

Brighton won't mind Nobbs shooting from there.

    Lucy Ward
Former Leeds striker on BBC Two

Brighton will try to be as compact as possible to try and stop Arsenal playing through them. We have seen a different Arsenal this season. They are not quite as direct.

  9. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Brighton

So far so good for Brighton though.

They're defending deep and happy to give the Gunners the ball. Right now there's no way through their solid shape.

There will be some nerves, especially in the Brighton players. A semi-final is a great game to win but you have to control the nerves.

London Calling boomed out on the stadium speakers before this match.

It's stuck in my head right now and I ain't complaining.

We take a knee and then Arsenal kick us off.

Right then, who's going to join Chelsea in the 2021 FA Cup final?

    Laura Bassett
Former England defender on BBC Two

Arsenal know they have huge tradition in this competition, but five years without lifting it, it’s going to hurt.

Right now they’re scoring so many goals, they’re a pleasure to watch.

Brighton are playing really well, they beat Chelsea last year. Against those big teams they step up and perform.

Hope Powell will have a solid game plan.

    Arsenal v Brighton (16:45 GMT)

Arsenal smashed third tier Gillingham and were similarly dominant against Championship side Crystal Palace.

They kept up their scoring rate in the quarter-finals, putting North-London rivals Tottenham to the sword.

Brighton's journey has been more restrained, with tight 1-0 wins over Bristol City and Charlton.

The Seagulls did get among the goals at the last 16 stage though, hitting National League North Hudderfield for six.

    Brighton might have an advantage.

They’ve had no international players going away. They’ve had two weeks to come up with a game plan. [Chelsea manager] Emma Hayes said earlier that coming off an international break is massive.

  17. 'Who says Arsenal have the right to win?'published at 16:39 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

Brighton boss Hope Powell says the club's first Women's FA Cup semi-final appearance for 45 years is something they should "enjoy" and that they will go out "to have a good time and see what happens".

"The pressure is definitely on Arsenal," she added.

"The expectation is for them to win, but they don't have the right to win. You still have to play the game.

"We beat them in the League Cup a few years ago and we have beaten some bigger teams that we have not been expected to beat.

"We know Arsenal are flying, we understand the depth of their squad and we recognise that it will be tough, but every game in the WSL is tough so it's nothing we haven't experienced before."

  18. 'One game away from our mission'published at 16:37 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

Women's Super League leaders Arsenal are yet to lose a domestic match under head coach Jonas Eidevall since he took charge in the summer.

Now just 12 games into his tenure, the club's Swedish boss is one win away from achieving "a goal and mission" to have the Gunners challenge for trophy at Wembley.

"I am new to English football but watched it [FA Cup] for many years overseas and I understand it has so much tradition and is filled with so much pride," he said.

"When you get the chance to coach a club like Arsenal, you feel like you have a chance to coach them at Wembley and maybe we have a chance to win a trophy at Wembley.

"We are only one game away from that and that is an amazing feeling."

  19. Team News - Mead leads line in Miedema absencepublished at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

    Arsenal v Brighton (16:45 GMT)

Four changes for Arsenal from the side that beat Hoffenheim 4-0 in the Champions League before the international break.

Jennifer Beattie, Lia Walti, Nikita Paris and Caitlin Ford come in for Lotte Wubben-Moy, Frida Maanum, Tobin Heath and deadly Dutch striker Vivianne Miedema who is resting after international duty.

Beth Mead will lead the line in her place.

She came off the bench last Saturday to score a second-half hat-trick in England’s 4-0 win over Northern Ireland at Wembley, and netted again in Tuesday’s 10-0 win in Latvia.
