Norwich manager Dean Smith on BBC Radio 5 live: "Its been a while coming, a hard-earned win and performance. We had a bit of fortune with the first, but the reaction to get the second was great, it was a well worked goal. Adam played well today but the spirit pleased me more, we knew we would be under pressure. We hung on in there.

"I’ve not looked at the table for two months! We have to keep working hard and hopefully the spirit and performances will keep going. It was great to prove people wrong today, but it is only a small step and we have to keep working hard."

Speaking to Match of the Day, Wolves boss Bruno Lage said: "It was a very good result and it's a good moment for us. My first words go to Toti [Gomes]. Two weeks ago he came and did a couple of training sessions with us. He didn’t make any mistakes and it was compact with Conor Coady and Max Kilman, so my first words go to him.

"First half was very hard with the way they played and they pressed. They are a tough team to play. They press high but in the second half we were better and we created more chances.

"I'm proud of the boys. They work hard every day and they try to go with my ideas. Adama [Traore] is working hard and he is a professional. He wants to improve and he deserves his goal. He always comes with the ambitions to score goals."

Zahi: De Gea has got to be the best shot stopper in the world. He’s not a complete keeper as City’s Ederson but as a pure shot stopper, no one is better.

Manchester United lead at the break but a couple of good David de Gea saves kept out an Aston Villa side that grew into the game.

Ezri Konsa is up and seems OK to continue. He'll see out the half and Aston Villa will have another check at the break.

Some concern here for Aston Villa as we enter three minutes of time added on. Ezri Konsa is down injured and the hosts are concerned enough to have Kortney Hause get ready to come on.

Oooh, almost the dream debut for Lucas Digne as he arrives at the other side of the box to meet a deep cross and hits a first time shot that David de Gea saves at his near post. Great strike.

After a disappointing start, Aston Villa are starting to grow into this game.

Emi Buendia's influence is growing and had it not been for David de Gea, he would have had an equaliser.

I wonder if Steven Gerrard's is working out how long he can get out of Philippe Coutinho.

On form, he might just be who Villa need.

Some decent pressure now from Aston Villa as the game heads towards half time with Danny Ings just unable to get his head to a cross.

Aston Villa win a couple of corners in succession, the second of which sees David de Gea produce a great save to deny Emiliano Buendia's powerful header.

Better from Aston Villa, though.

Better from Aston Villa as Ollie Watkins gets a shot off but it is straight at David de Gea.

Douglas Luiz sends a free kick into the box but Fred clears before an Aston Villa player can make a touch.

Jon Evans: I think Villa are missing McGinn. Been poor so far. It's a shame our summer recruitment so far this season hasn't met expectations.

Alex Telles goes for goal from the free-kick, Emi Martinez punches away before Mason Greenwood fires a low effort just wide of the post.

Manchester United's interim manager Ralf Rangnick has been trying to find a way of his side controlling games.

They are doing better today but unforced errors in passing from Fred and Alex Telles do not help.

Richard Browne: United proving again to be a much better team without Ronaldo. No doubt will run out of steam again mind.

Great run by Anthony Elanga. He gets into the area and goes down with two Aston Villa players in close attention. Penalty? The referee isn't interested.
