A scare for Scotland as Daniel Wass times his run into the penalty area to meet a cross from the right but it's an awkward height and he can only bundle the ball wide off his thigh from 10 yards or so.

Quote MessageThe work-rate and high press this early is important for Scotland against quality opposition. They haven't allowed Denmark to dictate or get a grip of the ball

Scotland certainly look the hungrier side at the moment as Che Adams goes down looking for a foul near the edge of the box. The ref is having none of it though.

A lovely cross-field pass from Callum McGregor finds Andy Robertson steaming forward on the left but the captain's cross is just too high for Stephen O'Donnell arriving at the back post area.

Scotland have started at a brisk pace, zipping passes around and winning the ball back high up the pitch a couple of times but no sights of goal yet.

A peep of the whistle from referee Alejandro Hernandez and away we go at a very noisy Hampden Park.

There will be a minute's silence for two greats of the Scottish game this evening; Walter Smith and Bertie Auld.
Smith achieved legendary status as Rangers boss, with 21 trophies in two spells, while Auld was a member of Celtic's famous European Cup-winning side of 1967 - also winning five league titles, three Scottish Cups and four League Cups.
Smith was Scotland manager for 16 games between December 2004 and January 2007. Auld was capped three times.

A stirring rendition of Flower of Scotland from the home crowd... They are up for this one.

Nearly time for the national anthems and Hampden is bouncing. The Danish fans are making a right old racket in their red and white corner of the stadium.

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke speaking to Sky Sports about the players under risk of suspension: "Just go out and play, play your normal game. You've only been booked once in nine matches so just go and play your normal game. We trust the referee won't be over officious."

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke speaking to Sky Sports: "Our approach is to go out, play well and try to win the game. The permutations and everything else that goes on around it aren't important when the game starts. It's how we play and perform against a good Danish team and we look forward to the test."

Scotland are unbeaten in 10 home qualifiers in all competitions, last having a longer run between May 1975 and May 1978, which was a run of 16 without defeat.
We'll just gloss over what happened in the Euro 2020 games against Czech Republic and Croatia at Hampden in the summer for now since they were tournament games.

“Ten out of 10 would be a massive achievement," said Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand yesterday. "Every match we play we want to win and stop the opponents from scoring.
“It’s not the record itself, it’s the way we play and the feeling we have when we play that’s important. And then we can look back and see what kind of records we broke.
“The record is not the focus for us, it’s to win the match and to deliver a good performance, to play with the identity and style and intensity and quality.”

Denmark could be just the third European nation to win 10 out of 10 World Cup qualifying games after Spain (2010) and Germany (2018).

“We improved during that game," recalled Scotland manager Steve Clarke, when reflecting on defeat in Denmark. "There was obviously a period in the first half, and it was quite a short period when you look back at the game.
"I pointed out to the players that between the first and second goals was less than 30 seconds, when you take out all the celebrations. We kicked off, conceded possession and they scored again almost immediately. It was a crazy little spell when we lost our composure.
"I think we have learned from it and hopefully we can show that."

Scotland have lost just once in the group but it was a pretty one-sided affair in Copenhagen back on 1 September.
Steve Clarke's side were all at sea in the first half, falling behind to goals from Daniel Wass and Joakim Maehle inside the first 15 minutes and the hosts could have had a few more.
Scotland improved after the interval as the Danes eased off and Kasper Schmeichel needed to pull off a great save to deny Ryan Fraser a goal that might have made things interesting.

Tonight's referee is Alejandro Hernandez and the bad news for the Scotland players in danger of suspension in the next round is that the Spaniard appears to love flashing the cards around.
This season he's given out five yellow cards twice, three times it's been six, seven on one occasion, eight and nine twice.
Gulp!

Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand was already without a host of players through injury, including Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, before Friday's 3-1 win over Faroe Islands and makes five changes from that game.
Two more midfielders - Brentford's Christian Norgaard and Eintracht Frankfurt's Jesper Lindstrom - miss out through injury this time.
Ajax forward Mohammed Daramy and Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen also drop out along with Udinese right-back Jens Stryger Larsen.
Coming into the side are Leicester City centre-half Jannik Vestergaard, RB Salzburg right-back Rasmus Kristensen, Cadiz midfielder Jens Jonsson, Hoffenheim winger Jacob Bruun Larsen and Trabzonspor striker Andreas Cornelius.
It means only five players remain from the Demark side that defeated Scotland 2-0 in Copenhagen and, if the Uefa website it is to be believed, Hjulmand has switched from a back three to a back four.

Not since 2007 under Alex McLeish has a Scotland side won five consecutive games in 90 minutes.
Not since 1995 have they reeled off as many consecutive victories in competitive games.
This run included Moldova twice and the Faroe Islands, along with a gritty display in Austria and a last-gasp goal against Israel.
Denmark, albeit with a weakened side, is a huge step up. The visitors have a 100% record to protect at Hampden, with 30 goals scored and just one conceded over the previous nine matches.
The Euro 2020 semi-finalists are ranked 10th in the world, 32 places above Scotland.
