That's as far as we go here tonight.

It was another very good night for Blackburn and their Chile international talisman Ben Brereton Diaz.

Rovers moved level on points with third-placed Fulham thanks to their sixth straight win, as Brereton Diaz bagged the winner over Barnsley with his 20th league goal of the season.

Middlesbrough continued their terrific recent form with a dramatic stoppage time win at Blackpool after the home side had equalised in the final minute.

Millwall claimed a 1-0 win at Coventry through Tom Bradshaw's close range finish and gave a late debut to 15-year-old Zak Lovelace.

We'll be back with more EFL live action at 19:30 GMT tomorrow.

Enjoy the rest of your evening and thanks for your company.

  2. League Two headlinespublished at 21:48 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    • A stalemate between Swindon and Stevenage, but positives for both sides as the hosts move into the play-off places and Boro move out of the bottom two.
    • Oldham take a solid point away from Barrow, who missed the better chances, but the Latics remain two points adrift of safety.

    Blackpool 1-2 Middlesbrough

It is now 17 points in eight games for Middlesbrough and Chris Wilder after Duncan Watmore's late show. That is promotion form and it completes a fine Christmas after the 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day.

They remain fifth and while teams like Stoke, QPR and Sheffield United have three games in hand, Boro have the points on the board.

A second hard luck tale in three days for Blackpool. After a late defeat at Huddersfield on Boxing Day, they again come up just short after more than playing their part in the game.

Crewe celebrate goalImage source, Rex Features
    • Two goals in six second-half minutes lift Crewe off the bottom of the table as the Alex grab their first away win of the season in League One.
    • Oxford United were the best attacking side on the night as they thrashed Wimbledon 3-0 to move above Wycombe and into fifth in the table.
    • That is because Gareth Ainsworth's side lost 1-0 at Ipswich, despite some great chances late on.
    • Shrewsbury and Accrington share the points in an entertaining match despite it lacking goals.

    Decent night for Millwall this.

The Lions move up to three points off the play-offs.

    That was the chance!

Wycombe's Anthony Stewart had a wonderful opportunity to make it 1-1 at Ipswich, but the defender could not control the ball as it came to him on the bounce and he fired over the bar.

    Blackpool 1-2 Middlesbrough

Duncan Watmore's 93rd minute goal has won it for Middlesbrough after Shayne Lavery's 91st minute goal had cancelled out Andraz Sporar's opener.

A fifth win in six games for Boro and Chris Wilder, but boy was that close.

Six wins in a row for Blackburn and they are now level on points with second-placed Fulham.

Goals from Joe Rothwell and Ben Brereton Diaz, his 20th of the season, were enough for them against the lowly Tykes.

Carlton Morris had levelled for the South Yorkshire side but they lose again and remain second bottom with just two wins all season.

    Shayne Lavery (90+1 mins)

A long ball into the box is not cleared and Shayne Lavery is coolness personified to find the corner and bring his team level.

  12. League Two updatepublished at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

Swindon teenager Kaine Kesler Hayden has come so close to finding a breakthrough against Stevenage.

Welsh international midfielder Jonny Williams showed his quality with a fizzed ball across the box, but the defender on loan from Aston Villa poked his shot just wide of the post.

Barrow and Oldham are also fast running out of time to avoid this one ending 0-0, as Callum Whelan blazes over for the Latics.

Three points for Rovers tonight will see them go level on points with second-placed Fulham.

  15. League One updatepublished at 21:28 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

It is going to be a nervous last few minutes for Crewe, who are 2-1 up at Morecambe and looking for their first away win of the season in League One.

The stats fall in their favour though.

Morecambe have won only one of their last nine league games against the Alex, that being the reverse fixture three months ago.

Over in Shrewsbury, both sides are searching for a late winner and Accrington midfielder Sean McConville is the latest to see an effort saved by the home side's keeper Marko Marosi.

Blackpool hit the same post for the second time this half!

Substitute Josh Bowler swings in another dangerous corner, Callum Connolly gets a run on it and his glancing header comes back off the far post.

Fair play to the hosts, they are really pushing for an equaliser.

    Blackpool 0-1 Middlesbrough

A host of changes as Blackpool have sent on Northern Ireland striker Shayne Lavery and Josh Bowler as they push for an equaliser while Boro goalscorer Andraz Sporar has been replaced by Uche Ikpeazu.

And the hosts threaten as Marvin Ekpiteta's header is straight at Joe Lumley from a deep corner.

  19. League Two updatepublished at 21:19 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

Oldham have won their final league match in just two of the last 14 calendar years and arguably it is Barrow who are just shading this one so far.

Substitute Offrande Zanzala has prodded an effort just wide for the Bluebirds in Cumbria.

It is surprising that play-off chasing Swindon are yet to register a shot on target at home to Stevenage.

Ellis Iandolo is the latest to show some endeavour for Ben Garner's side with a mazy dribble, but neither side is really hammering on the door.

    Coventry 0-0 Millwall

No sign of Millwall bringing 15-year-old forward Zak Lovelace on for his debut.

The Lions had to get permission from his parents and his school to name him in their matchday squad this evening.
