Sheffield United under Chris Wilder were pretty formidable when they went one goal up and we'll see if that can rub off on Boro as they chase a fifth win in six games.

    THAT MAN AGAIN!!!

Ben Brereton Diaz has been in tremendous form this season and he scores his 20th league goal of the season to restore Blackburn's lead.

It's a lovely, crisp finish from the Chile international into the bottom corner.

They're on course for a sixth straight win once more.

  5. League One updatepublished at 21:06 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

Crewe went in behind but are now 2-1 up at Morecambe!

Luke Murphy controlled the ball on his chest and lifted a looping shot into the net to beat a crowd of players in front of him.

They were bottom of the table just moments ago, but two goals in six minutes have moved them up two places in the table.

Elsewhere, Sam Long has smashed home to grab Oxford's third goal without reply against Wimbledon.

  6. goal

GOAL Blackpool 0-1 Middlesbroughpublished at 21:05 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Andraz Sporar (60 mins)

The deadlock is broken at Bloomfield Road!

Matt Crooks works the ball into space for Isaiah Jones and the winger puts it across into the danger area where Andraz Sporar scores with a backheel flick into the far corner.

The shirt comes off as the Slovenian runs to take the acclaim of those visiting Boro supporters and Sporar picks up a booking for his troubles.

  7. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:59 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackpool 0-0 Middlesbrough

Blackpool have really come out of the traps this half and now they have come even closer to an opening goal.

James Husband's deep cross is met on the volley by Gary Madine, whose effort drifts over Joe Lumley and hits the far post before the ball is scrambled away.

  8. League One updatepublished at 20:59 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

A big goal at the bottom of the table.

Crewe - who started well at Morecambe - have dug deep and found a leveller.

38-year-old Chris Porter's header has made it 1-1.

That moves them up a place past Doncaster for now, but they remain six points adrift of safety.

  9. Postpublished at 20:58 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackburn 1-1 Barnsley

Blackburn on top again in this one.

Ben Brereton Diaz sees a shot blocked and then Jon Buckley's follow-up is saved by Tykes goalkeeper Brad Collins.

  10. League Two updatepublished at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

Barrow’s Offrande Zanzala has scored in each of his two starts against Oldham.

He is one of a pair of half-time changes made by manager Mark Cooper.

Swindon will move into the play-off places and Stevenage out of the bottom two if their match remains without goals, but Jack Payne has threatened to open the scoring for the hosts, with his well-hit long-range strike deflected out of play.

  11. CLOSE!published at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackpool 0-0 Middlesbrough

Almost an opener for Blackpool, albeit with a large slice of luck.

The ball is worked to Callum Connolly 25 yards out and he fires in a shot which hits Dael Fry and rolls just past the opposite post of Joe Lumley's net.

  12. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

There are four Championship fixtures tomorrow including leaders Bournemouth against Cardiff. West Brom against Preston has been postponed.

    • Bournemouth v Cardiff

    • Stoke v Derby

In League One, Sunderland would go top if they beat Sheffield Wednesday. That's the only other EFL game on Thursday.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackburn 1-1 Barnsley

Third-placed Blackburn will be wondering just how on earth they're going in level at the break but they are.

The home side hit the post through Joe Rothwell before the same player then opened the scoring.

Thereafter it seemed to be a case of how many more Rovers would score.

However, some poor defending just before the break allowed Carlton Morris to level for the struggling visitors.

  15. League One updatepublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

Three home teams are now in front going into half-time in League One as Ipswich have a goal through James Norwood.

David Stockdale made a brilliant save earlier for Wycombe, but he palmed the ball to Norwood this time, and he was unlikely to miss that from close range.

    Half-time scores:

    • Ipswich 1-0 Wycombe
    • Morecambe 1-0 Crewe
    • Oxford United 2-0 AFC Wimbledon
    • Shrewsbury 0-0 Accrington
  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    No goals.

Coventry have had the better of it but the visitors have improved as the game has gone on.

  17. goal

GOAL: Blackburn 1-1 Barnsleypublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Carlton Morris (45+1 min)

    WELL!

Blackburn are on a run of five successive wins and they have been utterly dominant in this but they have been pegged back!

The home side make a total mess of clearing a cross and the ball eventually comes to Carlton Morris who smashes home via a deflection off Ryan Nyambe and the post.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackpool 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough looking the more likely but goalless at the break.

  19. League Two updatepublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

We have just seen a left-back score in League One for Morecambe, and in the division below, Barrow's left-sided defender Patrick Brough has gone very close.

Oldham defender Carl Piergianni was standing on the line, in the right place to clear away his header.

Meanwhile, Stevenage striker Luke Norris has hit the post at Swindon following a delightful Chris Lines free-kick.

  20. Postpublished at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Coventry 0-0 Millwall

That would have been a real sucker-punch.

The visitors win a free-kick and big defender Shaun Hutchinson heads wide from close range.
