    Coventry 0-0 Millwall

Coventry still on top but they can't find the goal their superiority merits.

Tyler Walker heads a cross over the top as the Sky Blues continue to press for the opener.

Morecambe left-back Greg Leigh has headed in against struggling Crewe.

David Artell's bottom-placed side were hoping for their first away league win of the season, but they have a bigger task on their hands now, with the Shrimps one up.

Oxford are now 2-0 up at home to Wimbledon, thanks to Matty Taylor sliding in at the back post.

  3. Postpublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackburn 1-0 Barnsley

    It should be two!

Blackburn get in behind the Barnsley defence all too easily and the ball is squared for Ben Brereton Diaz to tap in.

The pass is just a bit light though and Callum Styles does well to slide in and stop it reaching the in-form Chile international.

  4. Postpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackpool 0-0 Middlesbrough

Good defending this time from Blackpool captain Marvin Ekpiteta.

Decent move from the visitors as Isaiah Jones pulls the ball across for Slovenian striker Andraz Sporar, but Ekpiteta makes a big block while Sporar volleys the rebound high, wide and handsome.

Moments later, Seasiders goalkeeper Dan Grimshaw is called into action to deny on-loan Norwich winger Onel Hernandez.

  5. Postpublished at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackpool 0-0 Middlesbrough

It has been four straight clean sheets for Middlesbrough and signs of Chris Wilder's favoured three centre halves formation working very nicely.

That desire to keep the ball out of the net is infectious as Dael Fry throws himself in front of Jerry Yates to prevent the Blackpool number nine turning home James Husband's header across the box.

    Coventry 0-0 Millwall

    Coventry firmly on top now.

Callum O'Hare gets fortunate with a ricochet as he motors forward and then smashes a powerful shot at goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski.

  7. League One updatepublished at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

At last a goal in the Championship, you say?

Well, League One can match that.

Oxford United have an opener at home to Wimbledon as Mark Sykes controls beautifully before firing the ball in after a flowing team move from the back.

    Over to you, League Two!

  8. League One updatepublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

It was a great header but a tremendous point-blank reaction save by David Stockdale has denied Ipswich and Macauley Bonne an opener against Wycombe.

Further down the table, Crewe's early pressure has produced a good response from Morecambe.

Anthony O'Connor has just had a brilliant opportunity at the far post, but he fired over when well-placed.

    WE HAVE A GOAL!!!

Barnsley give the ball away incredibly cheaply 40 yards from goal and Jon Buckley slides Joe Rothwell in on goal.

He hit the inside of the post earlier in the game but makes no mistake this time with a cool finish into the bottom corner.

Blackburn going level on points with second-placed Fulham as it stands.

    Coventry 0-0 Millwall

    No early action at Coventry.

Worth noting that Millwall have got 15-year-old forward Zak Lovelace on the bench this evening.

He was born in 2006, which feels kind of preposterous.

  11. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackburn 0-0 Barnsley

Joe Rothwell gets in behind the Barnsley defence and his low effort beats the goalkeeper but comes back off the inside of the post.

Still no goals in any of our nine EFL matches after 20 minutes.

  13. League Two updatepublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

No goals in the pair of games in League Two so far, but Stevenage only need a point from their trip to Swindon to move out of the relegation zone.

Barrow have won their last two league meetings with Oldham Athletic, but the visitors will see this as an opportunity they must take, as they sit bottom of the table and three points adrift coming into tonight.

Swindon's Elliot List has had a close-range shot well saved, while Barrow's Josh Gordon went down after a challenge from behind a moment ago, but penalty shouts were dismissed.

  14. Postpublished at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackpool 0-0 Middlesbrough

    How have Middlesbrough not scored?

Boro completely open up the Blackpool defence and captain for the night, Paddy McNair, fires one across goal. Lee Peltier is charging in at the back post from his left wing-back spot, but from four yards, he contrives to put it wide when it looked easier to score.

  15. League One updatepublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

The four games on in League One tonight offer some great chances for teams to make up ground in the table.

Wycombe Wanderers and Oxford United, fifth and sixth respectively, could both close on the leading teams.

The latter have started brightly at home to Wimbledon, with Gavin Whyte inches away from touching in a cross that flashed across the box.

Morecambe host Crewe, with both inside the bottom four. The visitors have had a couple of chances, with Alex midfielder Tom Lowery sending a shot into the side netting.

  16. Postpublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackburn 0-0 Barnsley

Blackburn have had the ball in the net but Reda Khadra's effort came quite a long time after the referee had blown play to a halt after two Barnsley players collided in the air.

  17. Postpublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2021

    Blackpool 0-0 Middlesbrough

Around 3,000 Middlesbrough fans have made the journey across from Teesside to Lancashire for this match, and they are in terrific voice early on, creating a great atmosphere.

Even on a midweek night, a game at Blackpool is always appealing to away fans.

Blackpool have been forced into three changes from the narrow 3-2 defeat by Huddersfield on Boxing Day.

But despite plenty of injuries and Covid in the squad, manager Neil Critchley and the club have been determined to keep this game on when they could have pushed for a postponement.

It's one of just three Championship matches remaining tonight with four called off.
