Christian Doidge came off the bench for Hibs, having recovered from an Achilles injury sustained in August.

The big striker tells BBC Sportsound: "It's been a long few months but this game was always a target.

"We've started well against Rangers before but not got the goals. When Boyle plays like that he's unstoppable. The only problem playing with him is that sometimes he's so quick I can't get in the box!

"I love it at the club and I believe it's only going one way and that's forward. Now we need to get our league campaign back up and running."

  4. 'We've let ourselves down today'published at 18:48 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2021

    FT: Rangers 1-3 Hibernian

Rangers coach David McCallum tells Premier Sports: "We've let ourselves down today. I thought we started quite well, were on the front foot, but we've conceded a poor goal and then the second goal is lost from a throw-in.

"The second half, as much as we had a lot of possession we didn't do enough.

"There's still a lot to play for this season, a massive game on Thursday (Sparta Prague)."

  5. 'Hibs need same ferocity in final'published at 18:44 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2021

The big challenge for Hibs is finding the same intensity. It's fine doing it against Rangers because there's no love lost there. I'd imagine the dressing room would have been fire and brimstone beforehand. That edge might not exist between Hibs and Celtic but they have to produce that kind of ferocity in the final.

  6. What next for Hibs?published at 18:41 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2021

    FT: Rangers 1-3 Hibernian

Well, they will need to recover quickly for Wednesday's rearranged Premiership trip to Ross County.

Then they go to St Johnstone on Saturday.

It's another huge game for Rangers on Thursday too since hopes of Europa League progress may well hinge on getting a win at home to Sparta Prague.

Today is about Hibernian but it looks like Giovanni van Bronckhorst has his work cut out rousing this Rangers team for Thursday's Europa League match against Sparta Prague.

The players have already put their new manager under a degree of pressure and he's not even held a training session.

  9. 'I feel like we've lost a bit of hunger'published at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2021

    FT: Rangers 1-3 Hibernian

Rangers defender Connor Goldson tells Premier Sports: "I'm not gonna not give them credit, Hibs beat us fair and squad, we didn't deserve to win the game, but as Rangers Football Club our standards need to be higher, we didn't create anything, again. Not one individual can come off the pitch with their head held high.

"We've let ourselves down, players don't follow instructions. If players don't want to follow instructions then we can't blame the coaches.

"We can say at half-time 'keep believing' but we're 3-1 down, it's game over. We can't give away goals like that. Three chances, three goals.

"We know the new man was here today. We need a change, we need a spark. I feel like we've lost a bit of hunger. All of a sudden we're champions and we don't want to work as hard, and I feel that's crept in. We've not been good enough all season."

  12. An afternoon to remember for Boylepublished at 18:24 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2021

    FT: Rangers 1-3 Hibernian

Hibernian's hat-trick hero Martin Boyle tells Premier Sports: "It's unbelievable, I can't put into words.

"That game is up at the very top. Moments like these don't come around often, you've got to cherish them.

"We came here today and showed what we're capable of."

  13. Ross enjoyed 'outstanding' Hibs performancepublished at 18:20 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2021

    FT: Rangers 1-3 Hibernian

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross tells BBC Sportsound: "I'm delighted but pride is the biggest emotion. We've had a tough month. Tough few weeks prior to that as well.

"To deliver that type of performance on this type of occasion is outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

"We needed big moments and the first goal was one of them. We get a little break with the ball falling to Martin. We grew from there.

"They didn't let another opportunity slip by them. The character they've shown and the trust in each other at the club was evident.

"We had to show all aspects of our game. As a whole team, they were prepared to put their bodies on the line."

  14. 'Do we look happy?'published at 18:16 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2021

    FT: Rangers 1-3 Hibernian

Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous takes a sly dig at former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard in his Premier Sports on-pitch interview.

In a none too subtle reference to a Gerrard interview from a few weeks ago, he tells the broadcaster: "Do we look happy? Don't ask silly questions then."

On the game, he says: "We've played Rangers a few times over the last few years and let ourselves down, even myself getting myself sent off, but we showed the quality and especially Martin Boyle, it's a pleasure to play alongside him.

"We let the fans down last year in the cup final (losing to St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup) so it's about rectifying that and we showed today we're good enough to beat anybody."

The second half might have been a tough watch for Hibs fans as their team was pinned back for almost all of it.

But the Edinburgh side kept a solid shape and were always fully committed, with Matt Macey not really having to make a serious save.

There was a scare with Darren McGregor's over-hit pass-back and it wasn't until the last few moments that Connor Goldson wasted a golden chance to get Rangers within one goal.

Martin Boyle will get man on the match but Paul Hanlon was brilliant for Hibs. An absolute rock among many big performers. Hibs dynamic in the first half and resolute in the second. Rangers were just huff and puff. Desperate lack of creativity and accuracy. Hibs way too good.

A lot of wide smiles despite the exhaustion.
