A lovely pass from Joe Aribo finds Alfredo Morelos racing into the penalty area and the striker cracks in a first time shot. It's hard and low, but it's too close to goalkeeper Matt Macey.

Hibs supporters may be majorly outnumbered here but that pocket of fans to the right has gone absolutely mental at that goal.

It's scrappy but, boy, they will take it. The Rangers end are roaring at their players to wake up.

Ryan Porteous looks like he has to score, he completely misses it, but it falls so kindly for Martin Boyle. A tap in from half a yard.

The Scottish Cup final in 2016 has given this game an edge, from what happened afterwards as well. It's always a good game, two good teams going at it, but Paul Hanlon and Joe Newell are walking a tightrope now and they're right in the thick of the action

Two bookings inside three minutes is a big sign of rustiness for Jack Ross' men.

Their last game was 25 days ago.

Confident goalkeeping from Matt Macey as he comes through traffic to gather the free kick. He clatters into Paul Hanlon and suffers a sore landing.

I think it's a booking. It doesn't matter how early it is. He was wiped out. It's a definite yellow card for Hanlon

Wild from Hibs captain Paul Hanlon as he upends Joe Aribo just outside the penalty area inside the first 25 seconds.

Really daft from such an experienced player.

  14. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:02 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2021

As the sun goes down on a cracking autumn day in Glasgow, there's a minute's applause for former Hibs manager Bertie Auld.

Referee Kevin Clancy then peeps his whistle and off we go.

    Rangers v Hibernian (16:00)

    And then some...

As well as not playing for three-and-a-half weeks, Hibs have some pretty dreadful form coming into this game, having lost four on the bounce to slip down the Premiership table.

Rangers are unbeaten in their last eight outings in all competitions, scoring 10 in their last two league wins against Motherwell and Ross County.

  16. Semi-final success omen for Hibs?published at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2021

    Rangers v Hibernian (16:00)

Hibs did beat Celtic and Rangers on the way to the 2004 League Cup final, only to end up losing to Livingston.

They beat Rangers at the semi-final stage on that occasion, via penalties.

Hibs also beat Rangers in the last four when winning the 1991 tournament.

They won at this stage in 1985 when games were played over two legs - and they won at Hampden in 1972!

Rangers have dumped Hibs out of the tournament on plenty of occasions, including the 1993 final at Celtic Park, but have only won one of their semi-final meetings and that was in the inaugural running of the competition back in 1947.

The one shining light for Hibs in their recent Hampden history did, of course, come against Rangers in May 2016.

David Gray gained immortal status down Leith way with his stoppage-time winner for Scottish Cup glory.

That dramatic 3-2 victory earned the club their third Scottish Cup 114 years after their second.

In true pantomime villain fashion, Ryan Porteous is given the biggest boo of the day so far by the entire Rangers support when the team line-ups are announced.

Ex-Celtic midfielder Scott Allan is a close second. The game hasn't even kicked off yet!

A cool head will be required from Porteous today, this Rangers support sounds like it'll be on 22-year-old's back.

  20. Can Ross plot first Old Firm win?published at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2021

    Rangers v Hibernian (16:00)

The best Hibs boss Jack Ross has done in six meetings with Rangers is a 2-2 draw at Easter Road in September 2020, losing the other five.

The Edinburgh side are winless in the last 13 meetings.

Ross has also yet to turn over Celtic since taking the job in November 2019.

To win this cup, he'll need to do both.
