    FT: Millwall 1-2 Crystal Palace

Millwall boss Gary Rowett to ITV: "I thought we played really well for most of the game. I thought the first half was a really good performance in many ways, both on the ball and off the ball I thought we were excellent.

"We concede a really poor goal in the 46th minute – you can’t do that against Premier League opposition. Olise is a really good player and you’ve got to force him on to his right foot.

"The second goal, again, it’s a ball into the box, it’s a header that we’ve got to go and mark and then we had moments ourselves.

"I thought we stayed in the game quite well but you can’t give two goals to a Premier League side and that’s the disappointing thing."

Leicester City's Youri Tielemans celebratesImage source, Reuters

As a Watford fan we must not be involved in the FA Cup. It's essential to put up a vague imitation of a fight but even more important that we be free to concentrate on the league. Thus an early penalty is not really a disappointment. Leicester are the cornerstone of my afternoon's punting.

    Wigan 0-0 Blackburn

John Buckley has an effort for Blackburn but his effort is tipped around the post by home goalkeeper Jamie Jones, with the resulting corner coming to nothing.

But Buckley may have been better off knocking a square pass to Chile international Ben Brererton Diaz, who would have had a tap-in. Still goalless.

    Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield manager Carlos Corberan: "I have a squad that I trust and it's a shame I can only pick 16 outfielders in any squad, because I saw interesting things from a number of players today.

"It's special to have seven games without losing. It tells us that the players are competing really well and I want to see that continue. Of course the dynamic of the game is positive but I know as a coach we'll have tough moments and good moments.

"There are things we have to continue improving and have the stability to keep changing situations."

On the travelling fans: "They were pushing us all the way and helping us to keep going. It felt like we were playing at home today and we wanted to give something special to our fans."

    FT: Mansfield 2-3 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder told BBC Tees: "I thought we got right out of the blocks and I have to give enormous credit to Mansfield Town, their manager, players and supporters because it's difficult going 2-0 down, but their team rallied and I knew this was going to be a really difficult afternoon, and so it proved to be.

"The result is the main thing and we have got through a really tough tie.

"We can play better but they are on a great run and any Championship team would have struggled today. We had a fight and struggled to get through but eventually we did."

  18. Postpublished at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Newcastle 0-0 Cambridge
