Palace have settled down a little now. Wilfried Zaha sees the ball on the left before it's switched over to Michael Olise.

He pings it back to Zaha, but his cross is cleared by Grant Hanley.

  6. 'European place not out of Villa's grasp'published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2022

Aston Villa v Leeds (20:00 GMT)

    Stephen Kelly
Former Tottenham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Aston Villa are in a really good place at the moment, they have brought in some really good players that can affect their season and have a manager in Steven Gerrard who is really driven.

The manager is hoping to take this club forward. He did an unbelievable job at Rangers to overturn the domination that Celtic had. To come down here in the Premier League and stamp his mark in this league is huge.

It is not going to be an easy task, but with the quality they have in the squad, getting into Europe is going to be a stretch but is not out of their grasp.

  7. 'Adams has got to score'published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2022

    Tottenham 0-0 Southampton

    Jonathan Woodgate
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Got to score. Che Adams has to do better. It is a huge, huge chance. Adams should have buried that to put Southampton in front.

  8. Postpublished at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2022

    Norwich 1-0 Crystal Palace

Grant Hanley puts his body in the way of Jean-Philippe Mateta and wins a foul inside his own box.

Adam Idah has it up the other end a few moments later but it rolls out of play.

    Tottenham 0-0 Southampton

Spurs are yet to get going in the Mauricio Pochettino Derby.

  10. John Stones at right-backpublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2022

    Man City 0-0 Brentford

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

From the team he picked, I was interested to see where John Stones played.

It is right-back in defence and right of a defensive three in attack, with Joao Cancelo allowed his normal left-back/midfield switch.

Pep Guardiola spoke in the build-up about how quickly Brentford get the ball forward.

  11. CLOSE!published at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2022

    Tottenham 0-0 Southampton

    You HAVE to score those.

Southampton, who have started brightly, should break the deadlock in the opening five minutes as Che Adams ghosts in behind the Spurs defence, latching onto a cross-field ball, but striking his first-time effort straight at Hugo Lloris from a couple of yards out.

  12. 'I have the idea James can play up front'published at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2022

Aston Villa v Leeds (20:00 GMT)

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa speaking to BT Sport: "We had a long period of inactivity that we used to rest on one side and prepare on the other. It allowed us to recover some players that have been out of the team."

On Daniel James playing up front: "I have the idea that he can play in this position. For Wales he shares the attack and he is a player who likes to get in behind. If you watch the games, when there is a cross into the box he is always there making runs to get on the end of it. If you see the two games prior to Newcastle, we score six goals with him in this position. Our last 20 minutes we played with three centre forwards and did not create any danger. That doesn't absolve James or condemn the other players."

On Aston Villa: "It is a team of offensive force with creative capability. Dynamic and combative."

  14. Postpublished at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2022

    Norwich 1-0 Crystal Palace

Get this game on. The first two minutes have been a belter.

Jean-Philippe Mateta is offside but the flag goes up late. He's away in the box but his shot is saved at the near post. Then the flag goes up!

  15. goal

GOAL - Norwich 1-0 Crystal Palacepublished at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2022

    Teemu Pukki (1 min)

    WELL!!!

What a start from Norwich! Milot Rashica goes on a brilliant run down the left. He pulls it back for Adam Idah, who tees up Teemu Pukki.

He actually mishits it and doesn't catch it properly at all but Pukki won't care as it rolls in off the inside of the left post.

That's his first league goal in 2022.

  19. 'We want to play well and win in style'published at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2022

Aston Villa v Leeds (20:00 GMT)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard, speaking to BT Sport: "We felt it has been a good time to reset and really go over our identity, our style and how we wanted to look going forward. We have had people in different places. A few people have had a rest who didn't really get that in the summer. We have had internationals away, who have all had a good time. They should be full of confidence. We believe we are in a good place. Hopefully, that will show tonight.

"We want to build on the last result and performance. We had to win in a different way at Everton. They put us under pressure at the end but we showed we can fight and compete and win in a different way. Tonight we are at home and I want us to attack, play well and win in style. We also have to stop Leeds' strengths because they have four really dangerous attackers with pace and speed. They like to counter so our counter-press and balance need to be spot on.

"We need to win as many duels as we can across the pitch. We know they have match-winners. If we can nullify their threat in the front four, we believe we will get opportunities and can create our own good moments. In terms of respect for this manager and team, Leeds are capable of beating anyone on their day if you allow them to show their style."
