OK, England have a free-kick in a promising position now, down the left edge but just a little too far for a shot.

None of the subs are warming up with any real intensity so that's your answer [on whether they might come on] for the next five minutes.

Approaching the hour mark, it's not worked for England so far. Now Gareth Southgate needs to show his worth by making a couple of changes to shake things up.

    Now it's a game.

England will have to push out and Mason Mount is in the game for the first time, but a rasping drive is palmed away by Manuel Neuer.

That's the difference between the two goalkeepers, one has strong wrists, the other flapped it in.

    Gianluca Mancini (own goal)

Hope for Hungary as Italy's Gianluca Mancini, who twice had opportunities to score in the first half, has scored a horrible own goal sliding in unchallenged at the near post and diverting the ball into the net from a low cross from the right.

Fantastic keep-ball from Germany. England backed off like they did on Saturday. They haven't come out with any intent and they've been punished.

Germany waited, waited, waited and picked their pass. Jordan Pickford thinks it's going to his right-hand side but it went high to his left.

    It got a slight deflection.

  10. goal

    Jonas Hofman

    Breakthrough!

Germany were monopolising the ball at the start of the second half and get the opener.

It is a delightful team move, patiently worked with Joshua Kimmich's first-time pass finding the run of Jonas Hofman in the box.

The midfielder lets it run and smashes a finish into the back of the net.

But what is Jordan Pickford doing??? It's straight at him, but the ball hits his palm and goes in. Poor keeping that.

What's going on with Kai Havertz's haircut?

Thought Dan James' the other day looked dodgy.

They been to the the same barbers or something?

So close to a third goal for Italy but Matteo Politano's strike from the edge of the penalty area bounced off the underside of the crossbar before Bryan Cristante fired just wide.

Germany's ability to keep the ball better is giving them the edge and more chances.

We spoke of the difficulty of the Premier League season but they just need to find that energy and keep pushing the Germans. They need to have a good rotation and get the ball into the penalty box where Harry Kane is at his strongest.

    HT: England Under-21s 1-0 Albania Under-21s

Arsenal's Folarin Balogun has given England Under-21s the lead just before half time in their European Under-21 Championship qualifier against Albania at Chesterfield.

Balogun converted from six yards out into an unguarded net after an excellent low cross from Gunners team-mate Emile Smith Rowe.

An England win will mean they would qualify for the tournament in Romania and Georgia in 2023.

All a bit messy in Munich but there were opportunities at both ends. Bukayo Saka has looked a threat and Harry Kane had a big chance. Raheem Sterling has been a little bit subdued but he looked to be struggling with injury for a while midway through the half.
