Big cheer from Brentford's fans as Christian Eriksen's name is read out.

His fellow countryman Jan Molby, here at Brentford for Danish television and no doubt taking huge interest in Eriksen, has been deep in conversation with Brentford manager Thomas Frank, another Dane, pitchside.

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham forward Son Heung-min, speaking to BT Sport, on becoming the most prolific partnership in Premier League history: "It is a big honour. The record is important but the three points are too because the result in midweek was not the best. We take the record but most important thing is three points.

"It is always a tough place to come here and we needed to show character and responsibility. Every player was fantastic today. We can't just be happy with today, there are more games to come."

Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5Live

There is a feeling that [Bielsa's time] is coming to an end. He's lasted a lot longer than other managers; the average lifespan of a manager in the Premier League is 18 months. There aren't many that if they aren't doing well have the credit in the bank to continue.

Look at the results and performances; if they happened at another club who hadn't dome so well under their current manager, there would be more than questions over his future.

Adam Salter: Leeds United are so bad. People praising Bielsa and his methods because he inspired the likes of Poch and Pep are missing the bigger picture. They have evolved his ideas, whereas Bielsa has refused to do so. It’s like comparing a PlayStation 1 to a PlayStation 5.

Lets be clear about this, there are 5 or 6 players who will be very attractive to Premier League teams if Leeds get relegated.

Anytime Christian Eriksen steps onto the pitch for Brentford, he will make a huge difference.

His ability is world class, he’s got the ability to pick a pass, he’s got the ability to score goals.

He’s going to make a huge difference to Brentford and the way they play.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank on how he will feel when he brings fellow Dane Christian Eriksen off the bench: "Of course that's a big moment but it means even more to him, his family, a lot of football fans around the world.

"It's a big moment and I'm so pleased he can play football again. I feel so privileged to be part of that."

  9. How tiny device led to Eriksen's 'miracle' football returnpublished at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2022

    Brentford v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

    Brentford

Danish international Christian Eriksen will return to the Premier League today, just eight months after he collapsed on the pitch at football's European Championship. The 30-year-old will be the first top-flight player fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD), which can reset the heart after a cardiac arrest.

"I was gone from this world for five minutes," Eriksen told the BBC in an interview this month.

Denmark were playing Finland in their opening game of the Euros last summer when one of the world's best midfielders suddenly collapsed.

He was given CPR, and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) was used to reset his heart so it could pump blood properly again.

At the time it was suggested Eriksen's professional career could be over.

But after an operation to have an ICD fitted, he will now make his debut for his new club Brentford, against Newcastle, and is targeting a return to international football at the World Cup finals later this year.

Anthony Elanga gets his fifth Premier League start for Manchester United this afternoon after his goalscoring heroics in Madrid on Wednesday.

The United fans have clearly taken to the teenager judging by how quickly the song they have created in his honour has taken hold.

For those who don't know, the tune is from the 90s song by German band Snap. The words are as follows......

Rhythm is a dancer, Anthony Elanga,

You won’t stop him if you dare,

    Came from Scandinavia,

    To be United’s saviour,

    Scoring goals from everywhere.

  19. Pertinent moment for Jensenpublished at 14:14 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2022

Brentford v Man Utd (20:00 BST)

    Chris Wise
BBC Radio 5 Live at Brentford Community Stadium

There’s a lovely piece with Christian Eriksen inside today’s Brentford matchday programme, and words that will really strike a chord with anyone who reads them.

He’s on the Brentford bench, but Thomas Frank has said he will get time on the pitch. That would be an amazing moment, and it’ll be an even more pertinent one should he replace Mathias Jensen. It was Jensen who was the Danish substitute that eventually came on for Eriksen just over eight months ago when he suffered a cardiac arrest.
