Grumpy Expat: There’s a difference between having enough players to fulfil a fixture and those players also being fully fit. Arsenal are struggling. Opinion of those criticising Arsenal from earlier?

    Arsenal 0-1 Liverpool (agg: 0-1)

Ohh this is a shocker from the teenager.

Diogo Jota has the beating of Ben White down the left, leaving the England international in his wake.

Jota puts the ball on a plate for Kaide Gordon eight yards out in front of goal, but the 17-year-old leans back and fires his shot way over.

I hope Liverpool can hang on to this lead as if they need a goal late on the only attacking player on the bench is Minamino. Although we could have 3 keepers on by then!

Oh this is a great opening for Arsenal.

Skipper Alexandre Lacazette brings Albert Sambi Lokonga's pass down but laces his shot over the crossbar.

Steven Keeyes: Couple of tactical changes from Arteta and reckon Arsenal turn this round.

Matty AFC: Absolutely crazy that Liverpool have their right back playing free roam in possession. Shows how much they value his footballing ability.

Arsenal have to be braver and push higher. That has to be the Arsenal teamtalk at half-time.

Ted Scott: Arsenal haven’t been good enough. Smith-Rowe has been non existent, they struggling on the right hand side, and defence hasn’t been good enough.

Bukayo Saka is one of the best in the squad but when he gets down the edge of the box he second guesses himself and thinks about going for an assist instead of the goal himself. He just has to have more confidence because he definitely has the ability to get the ball in the net.

HT: Arsenal 0-1 Liverpool (agg: 0-1)

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Arsenal started with great intensity and took the game to Liverpool. The goal knocked the stuffing out of them. Liverpool are cruising so plenty of thinking to do for Arteta.

  18. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Arsenal 0-1 Liverpool (agg: 0-1)

Arsenal have been disappointing since falling behind, tbh.

They've offered very little in the final third.

Two minutes to go to half-time, when they can go in and regroup.

  20. Arsenal frustration growspublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2022

    Arsenal 0-1 Liverpool (agg: 0-1)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Emirates Stadium

Arsenal are not playing badly but some of the early confidence and zip has gone out of their play and they have been living dangerously playing the ball out from the back.

Curtis Jones is having a fine night in midfield for Liverpool.
